Hey guys and gals, tracked this RR product down here in Ontario and I gotta tell you, and I'm preaching to the converted, but RR is an awesome product.

If you need to get this stuff in Canada contact carsytems.org
When I contacted the regional rep he responded to my email. Good service.

As it is a coating I think I would have applied MORE and kept it even for one coat only, not sure a second coat will penetrate the first, but only I can see it, to everyone else it looks like a new truck!!!

Did you use the RR on the headlights or one of the headlight restore kits?

I did the RR on my headlight.   I'll have to ask tyler how his headlights are holding up.

Tried it on mine but I didn't notice a difference.  I don't know if I did it right.  I just applied it on with a terry cloth.  No scuffing or buffing or anything.

I go back to work tomorrow.   I can check out his truck tomorrow.   My honda (left side) in pretty bad, but like I said, it sat out in the back yard unmoved for 7 months while I was overseas

I was provided a local distributer by Car Systems when I did it earlier this year.
Hope that helps...

Any idea what temperatures it can be applied at? We are still at around freezing, in the garage its 5 degrees but not a lot of room once the AV is in there.
Thanks,

steveblinston -  you also should wait for a warm low humidity day and night to apply the R&R. This allows it to dry quickly, & evenly. Some members applied the R&R during the day and overnight there was dew and it sort of screwed up the results.

Friggin BIG  Thumbs up! to this thread !!!!!!!!

OK, So, Ive read about 2/3rd of the posts since the original RR thread was started in early 2008.

And I havnt seen 1 yr / 18-mo / 2 yr pics (its the end of 2009 so 2 years since this was started)

So...Why question is: How "Permanant" is this Refinish Restorer ? If it lasts 12-18 months, and I have to re-apply, then I will be happy, but if it starts fading and turning chaulky in 6-9 months, then Im just going to do Gatorback.

Any replied on LONG-TERM will be greatly appreciated.

Also - Anyone in Phoenix AZ know where I can get this stuff?

THANKS!!!

dave: i did mine in the spring of 07, and put a 1 coat "recoat" on this summer. i really didn't need to do the new coat, but i was trailering my buddy's '66 chev stepside to a local show and wanted to have my AV in top display condition parked beside his truck.

RR has held up wonderfully. very little fading along the bottom of the sail panels and the top of the 3rd brake light when i did the recoat. and i mean very little. might have been more due to my application than sun.

my camera is busted so i'll see if i can get a decent shot of it with my cell or maybe buy a new camera tomorrow. i have the before & afters saved too, so i'll put a bunch up once i get a new pic

Awesome!!! Thank you.

I planning on getting some soon, and doing this rather than Gatorback.....why in the heck should we have to Pay $180+taxes, plus labor to do Gatorback when it was a KNOWN defect.

In any event, I love my AV, and I appreciate your info! Thanks

Thanks to MoAv and whoever found this stuff.  Cheesy
Refinish Restorer is AWESOME!!!

It got Rid of almost al signs of Zebra Stripes, and my Gatorback looks new again...WOW !!! There were areas on the sails and tool boxes that were almost silver - they are all dark, almost black again.

RR is not just an Oil-based dressing, or an Armor-All type cleaner, or anything like tire dressing, its a Sealer and a True plastic restorer...it makes the surface tacky for a good hour after using...basically its chemically bonding with the plastic. The best way to describe it might be like it almost chemically 'melts/softens' the top layer of plastic, penetrates it, then soaks in and dries forming a sealer. (It doesnt melt it like plastic cemenet or anything like that - dont worry)

2 Coats is definitely better than 1...One coat leaves rag wipe marks, and doesnt get the deep dark color back.

Some more pics...I really cant believe it worked as good as it did...Im a picky SOB, and this stuff impressed.

Even If I have to do it again in 1 or 2 years, so what, it took me 2 hours to do 2 applications....Not a big deal.

Here is a Before-After of the tool box that had spots on it that were literally silver due to fading. They are 95% gone...just barely visible.

Here are some pics during application, to show side by side, and one vs 2 coats side by side on the same panel.

Arizona-Dave

I am just as impressed as you were. I coated my 2003 AV last July and my friends all thought I spent big bucks getting new covers. They were quite suprised when I told them that $45 and 2 hours worth of work (plus a couple of beers) was all it took.
