Remember your FRS radios, we will be on channel 3. In case of rain we may look for a shelter house in a park to eat our donuts and drink the milk/juice. Anyone can PM me for our phone number if you will be arriving late so you will be able to find us!

See you all Saturday!

Butch

The GTG is set for September the 13th.

The plan is to meet at the AUTOMOTIVE HERITAGE MUSEUM, 1500 North Reed Road (US 31) Kokomo, IN. at 10AM for a chat................ maybe we will steal a idea from Didit and bring some donuts and juice to snack on before the museum tour. If you still need your coffee fix at 10AM feel free to bring a thermos or stop by your favorite coffee shop on the way. Remember we need to finish up with the snacks before entering.

Around 10:30 we Will enter the museum (cost is $5 per adult and $2 per child). We will plan on spending 2 hours there and after that we will cruise to THE SEIBERLING MANSION
for a tour of this fabulous old home. The cost for this tour is $4 and $1 per child. It opens at 1PM so we will have time to chat a little in the parking lot, that is not a problem with anyone is it?  Cool!

After the museum tours I know we will be hungry so guess what? Yep we will find a place to eat! Our son and daughter in law live close to Kokomo so I will ask them for a recommendation of a restaurant. Parking, Service (don't rush us), and of course the food will be the priorities!

As many of you know jomomma has been ill and we have not attended many GTG's this year, we have not hosted any so this will be the first of the year for us, come on out and help celebrate jomomma getting well!

So to sum it up:

                  What: Fall GTG

Where: AUTOMOTIVE HERITAGE MUSEUM, 1500 North Reed Road (US 31) Kokomo, IN

Second Stop:  THE SEIBERLING MANSION, 1200 W Sycamore St
We should be here at 1PM.

Third Stop: We will be eating a late lunch at Harvey Hinklemeyers, see reply 21 for the menu.
We will be eating between 2:30 & 3PM but we will bring some donuts & juice for
a late breakfast before we start the day!

Last Stop: Butch & Joan's home for BIRTHDAY CAKE & ICECREAM!

Feel free to pick one, two, three or all four stops. All times are approxmite and will depend on how much talking goes on out in the parking lots!  love If you think that you may join us later PM me and i will give you a cell number so you can check and see where we are when you are ready.

                 When: September 13, 10AM

CAMPING & HOTEL INFORMATION

Some of you may want to stay overnight, as always you are welcome to camp out in our yard. I have one 30amp trailer outlet and water available. There is no dump station however! There is room for a lot of tents or other smaller campers but sorry we do not have a extra bed available at this time. If you are interested in staying at a campground we have:

Spring Valley Campgrounds‎ just a couple of miles down the road.

Mounds State Park is only 4 miles away from our home.

Pine Lakes is a series of man made lakes that are very popular for fishing, they are susposed to be well stocked. They are located right off of I 69 at exit 19 and is only 6 miles from our home. They have small cabins all around the lakes that are for rent, all are new cabins but are rustic. There is electric & heat & air but not much else but the beds. They do have a shower house like a campground and include a firepit & porch swing. You can bring your own grill ect. The cost is $50 to $55 + a $50 deposit. I called and there will be plenty of cabins available to rent at this time of year.......if interested you can call them for reservations and inquiries at: 765 778-2697

If the weather permits we could have a bonfire here at our home later in the evening........

I you are coming to our home for the birthday cake & icecream and need a hotel there are many at exit 26 off of I 69 in Anderson Indiana. This is only 5 miles from our home. Anderson Indiana is a bedroom community for Indianapolis so if there are many major events going on the rooms will fill up, better not wait to long if you think that you will need a room (remember you can make the reservation and then cancel later if you decide that you don't really need it).

LINK TO ANDERSON INDIANA HOTELS.

If you are staying in or near Kokomo, Indiana CHECK OUT THESE HOTELS.

Post up and get on the list, you know you want to!  love

Butch

The auto museum website now says they are open Tuesday through Sunday 10:00 am - 4:00 pm. We passed by there a few weeks ago on a Sunday and they were open. I have another place in mind that is also open on Saturday but i will call before making the "OFFICIAL" post to make sure.........

Construction on the Seiberling Mansion began in October 1889 and was completed in the fall of 1891. The house was built for Monroe Seiberling of Akron, Ohio at a cost of $50,000.

The architecture of the house is a mixture of Neo-Jacobean (Queen Anne) and Romanesque Revival styles. It was designed by Arthur LaBelle of Marion, Indiana. Built at the height of the gas boom in Indiana, the house was originally heated and illuminated by natural gas.

The mansion includes eight rooms on the first floor, seven on the second, and a grand ballroom on the third floor with an entrance to the rotunda outside. The grand porch overlooks the grounds. Interior woodwork includes ornate design and parquetry of native walnut, oak, maple, cherry, mahogany and tulip poplar. The Victorian staircase is stunning. Moorish themes are featured in brass door knobs, plates, hinges, and sash lifts.

Since 1972, the Seiberling Mansion, because of its historical and architectural significance, has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places by the U.S. Department of Interior

Automotive Heritage Museum
1500 North Reed Road (U.S. 31)
Kokomo, IN 46901
(765) 454-9999

The Pioneer Auto Club began showing cars in the early 1950's. Their early vision of an auto museum became reality in 1998. Visitors to the museum can wander through Kokomo's automotive history, beginning in 1894 through the present. The museum's historic facades feature a 1930's gas station, the Haynes home, and a 1950's diner. Auto industry related displays and around 100 antique and classic cars make this a must-see museum for car enthusiasts.

We decided to add one more stop to this GTG. After we eat in Kokomo anyone who wants can stop by our home for

BIRTHDAY CAKE & ICECREAM!

Yep, I just keep getting older!  Some of our member from up north who have not signed up YET are wanting to see the furniture that I built over the winter so I thought we might as well make a party of it............as the date gets near I will post the address for a place we will eat, (PM me for my address) and the time that we should be here along with other times and addresses of our stops, that way if you cannot make all of the GTG maybe you can join us somewhere along the way!

Hope to see ya there,
Butch

Yea, I know, I talked to GBT about this but we had conflicts on all dates and needed to make it on a date that a few of our northern friends could attend.

We will be eating a late lunch at Harvey Hinklemeyers. I am guessing that lunch will be between 2:30 & 3PM so we will bring a few donuts, juice & milk to hold us over till then. Feel free to bring a thermos of coffee or stop by your favorite coffee house before arriving at the Auto Museum, we will need to finish all food & drinks before entering.

I have let them know to expect us and they promised to take good care of us!  love

Harvey Hinklemeyers is a local favorite, we have only ate there a couple of times but I can tell you they have the best bread sticks and some of the best pizza that you will ever eat. They have several Italian dishes, Mexican dinners plus a full menu of sandwiches and sides all at reasonable prices. Look the menu over and start working your appetite up!
