Cindy--  I grew up in that area.  I don't know how many times we went to Dinkey Creek for our summer vacation as a kid.  I haven't been there in years!  Man, depending on what you put together, I might have to join you for 'ole nostalgia!

Cindy,

Sounds like a lot of fun to this NorCal member  thumbs_up

Since Hultzger can't make the Naitonal Meet this might be one he would consider.  Bigred should have his truck by then.  Keep us Northener's updated.

... and yes I did see this on your website as well

  WOW Cindy,
This sounds like great fun!!! Don't know if I will be able to make it though. I think I have some vacation in June, however I believe it's around the first week. Perhaps I could juggle some days around depending on the plans.

So sorry to have missed Calico, Looks like you all had a great time... Did you get my message?

We are hoping for alot of feedback. thumbs_up Should be plenty of notice for those who would like to attend and to set up all the details.

Did you click on the link in Cindy's first post?  You should see that it's a creek, sometimes bordering on river, but mostly creek.  Unless there's a place that I don't know about, a boat wouldn't fit.

Geez, google your way to knowledge, young grasshopper!  Grin

No problem--I just grew up in that area; we went there every couple years...  So it was funny to me.  Plus, Cindy did such a great job providing a teaser page link, that you wouldn't want to disappoint her, right?

Anyway, drive to Morgan Hill first; then 152 to Los Banos and 99; finally to Fresno and 168 toward Shaver Lake....  Ahhh  the central valley.  But get your truck fixed first!

Despite what I said about your boat, even though it's called "Dinkey Creek", there are some parts that look challenging:

So if your boat is a kayak or you have a rubber raft, bring it!

That's some beautiful country there!

If you really want to bring a boat Shaver Lake is 12 miles from Dinkey.. The water would be very cold in June. Also the nights could be in the 40's.  I will be up there in 2 weeks. (feb 17th).  Beautiful country.

BIGRED... We should have a date very soon! All I know as of today is June 2003.
As far as the money issue... this will be a weekend camping trip... So plan on $40 bucks for campground fees. That should be a safe estimate for 2 nights camping...plus your gas & food. Hope that helps.

I'm starting a  list of those who are thinking about...
or are planning to attend this event.

Cindy-

Way to put me last--as I am *way* tentative.  I would really like to do this, but it would have to be a 4-day (5 would be better), and it's such a long ways from our house.  I don't know if we will be able to get the time off.  Still trying to figure out the national too, which is the next month.  It will all come down to what weekend, and how we feel--but I'm watching this thread--keep us in mind until the last moment!

Cindy,

As flynhigh (thanks for keeping your eye on me Michael) said, since I can't make the Nationals I'd be up for a North meets South. I'll be watching for dates.
