I'll post a couple of road trips this week if I get a chance. Most of them have mile markers along the main roads for access to the dirt for those of you without gps or a DeLorme Gazateer. I have odometer reset points also all along the trail so you can't get lost. I'll post three and then check the feedback. Just because i can't make it to the group meet doesn't mean you can't play with my toys....

Ok..  I have registered azavs.net and set up a very basic site..  You can all get usernames and passwords from it, and we can start populating it with information...  I would like to set up some folks as site admins..  preferribly those with some web admin experience..

You guys are doing a great job - congrats.  FYI - Arizona, namely the Tucscon area is high on the list of venues for Wild West 2003 during the December school break week.  Other locations are in So Cal.  As you get rolling we could always use a conference coordinator willing to be a slave, errrr, do the leg work for the meet.   goofy

This is going to be great.

SOSE:  I can assist with the web site.  I can get in and do some work with you what do you use as an editor?  I will upload some maps so we can direct everyone to the site for getting directions, and what items everyone should bring.

AV-GARGOIL:  Thanks for getting the map up there, I have Microsoft MapPoint and will get a map of our journey posted.  The map I attached may show the street names a little better, is this the correct location of Wall Mart?

Hey are you up for Chief's request?  Could be interesting?

Here is the roster so far, any one else:

ducksface - We will miss you this time, next time the trip is on your side of town.

How many of you have talkabouts?  I have two so I can give one out.  If others have one or two we could definitely use them on the trip.  As for anything else, I agree with AZ_GARGOIL some of us could stock the sides with drinks.  I am in the process of finding out what places will be open for lunch where we are going.  If I come up short on the lunch menu we need to start packing a lunch.

As I drive down the road I see AV's all the time, I wave thinking one of them may be one of you, so if you see someone throw you a "hey how ya doing"  I'm not trying to pick you up just saying Hola and nice truck...  You wouldn't believe the looks I some times get.

Will see ya soon.

My wife, 8 yr old son and I will be making the 03.30.03 run... and we can't wait!
Peace!

...How many of you have talkabouts?  I have two so I can give one out.  If others have one or two we could definitely use them on the trip. ...

We have 4x of the FRS hand-helds.

2x Bell South models and 2x of the Con Air models we bought from Fry's when they were practically giving them away. (cost around $1.30/ea after the rebate)
So we can bring 4 units and share 3x of them with others.

Have to get the manual out for the GPS again, as I always like playing with the gadgets while the wife is driving.

Look forward to seeing you all there on the 30th.

I just wanted to give Fearless Leader some feedback on this idea:  thumbs_up thumbs_up.  I love the idea.  I love AZ, you all down there live in a wonderful state.

I sure am going to miss going to AZ next week as I am now on Spring Break wail.  I have heard that a lot of people that I know will be down there and it's getting hard to listen to  Cry.

If WW2003 is down there, I bet you would see us there Smiley.

Good luck with your chapter!

KTH-AZAV: You're welcome for the map, as far as the address, it is correct with all the info except the 750. The 750 part is on the wall on the carwash right next to the parking lot.  There is a Wendys, "the" parking lot(Wal-Mart), the Carwash, then Hometown Buffet.
I have NO 2way or cb Cry, but I 'll atleast have my cell phone.
It should be nice and warm that weekend, so we should all bring plenty of water, maybe a little sunscreen...etc.
For any of you in the Chandler or Tempe area, if you are shopping around that area at all, you will probably get a flier posted on your windshield wiper pertaining to this date so we can tag a few more people and hope they show up, I guess we'll see on the 30th.

Hello,

How's everyone doing? Cool  My name is joseph. I'm in San Jose, Ca right now but  I should be moving down there in the first week of April.  I will miss the first trip, unfortunatly.  I traded in my 95 Impala SS for this AV.  I was realy involed in a Impala SS club and doing car shows and winning awards.  I love the experiance, fun and support.  I wish to realy be involed in this club.  I'm used to monthly meetings and cruises and Mod Days.   (modifications)  I just bought a 03 avalanche 1500  North Face Edition,  dark charcoal grey.   The Mods are just starting.    So please if people want to meet and hang out or have any questions  please contact me. chevy

JMP03NORTHFACE:

Your on the list, will make sure you are informed of the next one.  Which I believe will be up toward Lake Havasu, but will talk about that on the 30th with the others in the group.

ALL:

I will post the map this weekend for the trip on sose's webpage.  I will also bring a few with me to hand out.

What to bring:
Make sure you fill up (that will be the expensive part of the trip)

If someone has a tow strap, just incase someone decides to go off route and we need to pull them out.

Flash lights, we arn't expeced to be out past bed time, but just in case.

Water, remember we are in the desert.

Water wings, just in case we get more rain, most of the Arizonain's I have met haven't seen this much rain in decades.

Starting this weekend I will ask those that are going to let me know, that way I can plan the speed and lunch location a little bit better.

Thanks
Kevin

I would be interested in driving over from So Cal if you plan a weekend camping trip with offroading. I have a office in Scottsdale I could plan a business trip with it. Would need to be before the killer heat comes. Let me know if you plan anything like this.

The next Arizona Avalanche get together is being planned for a Sunday in June.

A 50-mile Drive Through Ruby and Arivaca Skirts Two LAKES, WOODS and GRASSLANDS.

The 50 Mile drive begins approx 10 miles north of Nogales on I-19. Takeing the AZ-289/RUBY RD exit #12. Following RUBY RD past Pena blanca Lake, Castle Rock, Thumb Butte and Ruby into Arivaca. Leaving Arivaca on the Arivaca RD to Arivaca Junction at I-19. Then back to Tuscon and all points beyond.

The Phoenix area members will meet near Interstate 10 and Baseline Rd. (Fry's Electronics Parking Lot) We will need to Identify other meeting spots for those hooking up from other places. I am thinking someplace along I-10 in Tuscon or any other place along the route.

F.Y.I.
The distance from Fry's Electronic parking lot on Baseline Rd to exit 12 on I-19 is approx 160 miles. The 50 mile portion is easy to moderate traveling.

This cruise will take approx 8-12 hours from meeting point at Fry's in Phoenix and back. I will make the run before the "Cruise" to check if this trip can be enjoyed in one day without rushing.

Picnic lunches, talkies, and all other cruise gear is recommended.

Any comments or suggestions are encouraged.
Post them here or Email me at azblueav@cox.net

Watch for further information.

P.S. If your in Arizona and have not signed up at azavs.net yet please do.
