Welcome to the 2009 National Chevy Avalanche Get Together Section! San Antonio, Texas was chosen from a list of many choices as the location for the 2009 NCAGTG by the Cruise Coordinators Committee on the Chevy Avalanche Fan Club of North America forum website. Chevy Avalanche owners will be meeting in San Antonio, Texas from all across the United States and Canada July 18th through July 25th, 2009. There is a full week of activities planned. Join us for one, two, three days or the whole week. You will surely have "A Texas Size Good Time"! (The new water ride/coaster at Sea World in San Antonio for 2008- Journey to Atlantis) The San Antonio area offers a warm environment with outdoor activities and swimming pools by day and walks below the Texas sky by night. Register early and receive a mystery gift and a raffle ticket good for a chance to win a special prize! We hope to see you there. The 2009 NCAGTG Committee Members, Sponsors and Volunteers.

Is it too early to start bumping this thread............ Melissa, I wish you all the best in this event. I know the work that lies ahead of you and I commend you and the other committee members for taking on this challenge. With the central location, I see no reason why you cannot be hosting THE FIRST GTG to exceed 100 AV's............ I know of at least ONE from Tennessee that will be there.

I wound up making a 4 state race to catch up to James and SRFNSNO (who left 2hours earlier that me). and we cant forget Royalstar who was catching up to me . as it gets closer we gotta see how many miles that is. Cause on a run like that you can't run solo.(in case you break down, you need back up). I think its like two days driving (figure going to tenn was bout' 11hrs. let me know #7

Man O Man.San Antonio.I gonna try to get there.Hopefully all of my Mods And Projects will be done this time around.Real easy for me to get there. 2.5hrs to I-10,Then a strait shot to San Antonio.Only about 1045 miles to downtown from here.I can make it in 16hr.Went to Eatontown,NJ and Back...non-stop in 48 hrs to pick up my boat. And that was a 1950 mile trip.
Hopefully i can make this one.I'll have to see later on in the next year.

I believe "furthest distance to get there" and "furthest distance driven to get there" will be recognized.

Yeah I heard that one once before (not from you of corse, from others). I think its like two days driving (figure going to tenn was bout' 11hrs. let me know #7 Well if everyone meets up in NY to roll. I'll really consider bringing my truck. But I'll be taking the 22" wheels off and putting on the stocks. That way the ride will be better and I'll get better gas mileage.

I’m sure you could pull a nice convoy of AVs along the way. I’ll meet you in ATL for the ride across

Hey KevMack .... what about the Auto-Train?
Automobiles must be 65" or shorter in height. Vans must be 85" or less in height and I couldn't find anything to TX just VA-FL The Auto Train operates every day of the year non-stop between Lorton, Virginia and Sanford, Florida. THIS IS ITS ONLY ROUTE.

That's nothing...travel from Germany to AL for my first GTG The plan: Come to GA, spend the night, we’ll head out together That sounds like a good plan. I got to see what everyone up here does. I would like to meet up with the NY and NJ guys and roll from there. I'm not sure on the route they are planing. I just got to see what happens as it gets closer. Does anyone know when Nopi Nationals is in Atlanta GA. It would be nics to be able to hit that too. I would like to go to that. I heard its awsome. I go to the Nopi show in NH everyyear and from what I hear the Nationals is 10 X better.

Hey KevMack as it gets closer we'll talk about it, cause right now its still too early to plan. But with 32+ hours were probably going to do a sleepover somewhere (unless we do the auto train). I can run for more than 12 hrs straight (Its in my job portfoilio ) but I can see something evil happening to our Av's if we push them that hard. #7

You bought a Chevy, not a F@rd, It'll make it just fine! The only thing that is still on my truck that was made by Chevy is the Paint, Engine, and Drivetrain. Now I'm on my 2nd transmission with only 40k on the truck and the Paint is changing this winter.

1 Passenger: Passenger 1: Adult Rail Fare: $93.00 Accommodations/ Vehicle Price: $220.00 Total: $313.00 Thats the cost for the auto train. It adds about 300 more miles to the trip from the northeast but, I guess it's a trade off for less time behind the wheel overall.
But I looked on yahoo maps, If you go through Nashville its 1900 miles.

I like your thinking plus I know a person that works for the Train folks. I'm going to look into getting a deal with them. It's 1400 miles from me.

Hahahaha!! Then what?? Time to upgrade?? I want the (hope I spell it right) Cirbin V13R from Harly Davison. It cost $40,000 though Not ever going to be able to get it seeing I just bought a house last year, but I can wish.

Yeah, I hear you on that. My Avy is used to getting treated like a baby! She is going to hate this!!! Ummm... when she sees all of the other purdy AVs, she will thank you! Mine is a baby too, just anyone... She only hauls @$$, MINE! And sits in the garage until Sat and then takes a little spin to be returned to the garage.

I looked in to this last week and the cheepest I found was $989 and thats one way. I made up my mind and I'm driving. I just got to see if I can get it off from work because that is our busy time. I just can't find any of my friends that want to go with me. Plus I have to trust the persons driving to help drive my truck. P.S. I love BBQ and I heard there are some all you can eat BBQ places down there for like $10 !!! Can someone look in to that for me and maybe get some quality test on them so I can make sure to only hit the good ones!!!

Yes many times from Lorton VA to Sanford FL. It is a nice way to travel to and from Florida. It is the only route it runs as I said in my post above. It takes cars, motorcycles and Trucks. The cost varies by size of vehicle. SNOWBIRDs run it in the Fall and Spring.

Hey all, I am in. I will be traveling from Maryland. Attended 2008 for 1st one in Tennessee, had great time. I will be towing camper (26') so will be camping out. Anyone from Maryland, DC, or Virginia, or from up north want to meet up and caravan down? We can stop at midway point (Tennessee) spend nite in camper (sleeps 6, so I have room). I may travel through Wichita Falls, Texas way, and drop wife off for her to visit family, and then travel on to San Antonio, and pick her up on way back. So, if anyone wants to hook up and caravan down with me, I have room in camper during trip, and also during stay in San Antonio. DJDOLLARS69

That's nothing...travel from Germany to AL for my first GTG The plan: Come to GA, spend the night, we’ll head out together Hey Loggie, why don't I fly in to Baghdad and meet up with you, and we can start here? I know you'll be gone by then. I'll still be here.

Spork Driver... I do appreciate you working on the camping stuff. I am very glad you all are setting up caravans already. I have traveled in a group and solo... in a GROUP is much more fun and really adds to the trip we call Nationals Besure that you all that are stating that you will be attending on this thread add yourselves to the attending list thread too

Peekingduck is in SD. You should PM him to see if he is coming. Maybe you can meet up. The only other Canadians I know is B-BAD and his family from Ontario. They were at Nationals in '07.

Wow , Hadn't seen this thread before. I just got back from a trip to San Antonio and stayed at the Westin Riverwalk (on someone else's nickle). It is one of my favorite cities to visit - the Alamo, the riverwalk, museums, great food, friendly people ... Going to be hot in July though. I'm also interested in camping options. 1,261 miles according to Google. I'm going to try to make it. www.ironhorse129.com/avalancheTom

Texas Cowgirl, So hot is only a state of mind ... Why not hop in your AV and come up and see me in Wisconsin in January. Then tell me cold is only a state of mind Once I have my lady talked into this trip, I'll post in the sign up thread. Everyone, Here's the route Google suggests I take. I'd love to Caravan along the way. Anyone interested? Tom

It will be an enjoyable time and we will have water activites that you can par-take in Oh boy!!! I dont think anyone wants to see any of my skin!!! But you know what you can look in to for me if you get a chance. All you can eat BBQ. This guy I talk to on the phone when ordering equipment for my company is out of Dallas and he told me about this place in Texas that has the best BBQ and its all you can eat for $10. Now thats what I want. I been hoping he answers the phone when I call so I can ask him what it is called.

Tom Going that route, you shouldn't have any problems meeting up with MoAv and them I would think. BTW love the Avatar

Hey I will be traveling from Saskatchewan down through the Dakotas and then down I 81, it seems my GF is not at all excited about attending! So if any one would like to travel down there together in a Caravan that would be great! Sure would make the drive more enjoyable!
WOW!!!!! Glad to hear it!!!!!

Wish we could make it! San Antonio is a lot closer than last years Nationals, but work is really busy here that time of year and won't be able to come! Maybe next year! Sorry we'll miss it!

We may be able to come. Our Daughter and Son-in-law live there. They are both stationed at Lackland. It's 1200 miles for us. We'll see what goes. Dave

OK, our plans for Charleston, SC this year seem to be changing. Our friends want to go earlier in the year, but we do not want to take the kids out of school for vacation. So, I told my wife we would just go in July and go to Galveston to see my folks. Have not been down there in a couple years and want to see the Ike damage in person and see friends we have no seen in a while. It just so happens that we were looking at the middle to end of July, so if we go att he time during Nationals, I hope to make it to S.A. for a day or 2. Won't be any more than that as we have not seen my family since October of 2007, so need to spend some time with them. Hope to make it!

So many of you do not know me but seeing as I am hijacking Dustis truck (the one who actually owns this SN) I figure I may as well Hijack his friends too LOL. I am from NY and if I can work it out I would love to attend. I just have to try and work things out with my son's father because I cant take a 14 month old baby on that long of a ride he'd hate me. If I can I would love to meet up with all you north easterners and caravan down. I'll keep you all updated as I figure things out.

I forgot all about about nationals - and I'm heading to SC the first week of July for a fam reunion... but being that I actually live in SA Town and have over a month vaca time I should'nt have a problem popping in for a day or two. Hopefully next years nationals will be in South Jersey/Philly area. That would give me a great reason to get back home... lol SEE Y'ALL THERE!!

Please make sure you register so you can get all of the goodies that come with a National event AND to help us with our beneficiary

Wow, I just realized I will be in San Antonio for Nationals. I am doing officer basic at Fort Sam through the 27th. I will see if I can get some pass time to check things out! Unfortunately, I have no wheels though.

What's the address for the meet? I hope we'll be able to come by. I think were not going to be able to leave here until the 17th. That would put us there late the afternoon on the 18th. We will probably get to the meet on Sunday. I would like to purchase t-shirts though. Dave

Hey all. Were in San Antonio. I hope we will get to come over for a bit. Not sure though. Also just a heads up. Our truck got broken into Monday at the Cracker Barrel on the I-10 corridor not far from where the event is. The officer told us that it's a common happening through there. Keep an eye on your trucks. I lost a few things from the break in. I know it's just things but it makes me mad. Anyway, just keep your eyes open.Got to go for now. Hope to see everybody. Dave

I didn't want to the Keep it live! Nationals 09 thread but has anyone else noticed how much Melissa is smiling in all of those pictures? I am glad that the pressure is off and that she is having a great time! I just wish that it would have worked out so that we could have been there in person!

Absolutly Butch, I think if more of us got there it would of been an even funner (Is that even a word ) time. I am thrilled that at least we helped her out as much as we could and The turnout is great. #7
