CT Monster Garage Annual Holiday Extraviganza

                                                   Saturday December 13 2008

It's getting to be that time of year again. Lets get an early start and pick a date for the 6th annual CT Monster Garage Holiday Party. It's hard to believe.....6 years we've been doing this. Where has all the time gone. I would like to make this years party a charity event. I realize the economy has hit us all in our pockets pretty hard, but if we can help some families that can't afford to buy presents or food for a family dinner.

If we can all post times/dates that work for everyone that would be appreciated. I'm thinking a Saturday would be best so Monday won't be a hassle. Shocked The best dates look to be the 13th or the 20th. Also post what you will be bringing so we know whats on the menu (not like we ever run out of food)

Lets make this a big one and see how many AVs we can fit on the lot Thumbs up!

speaking of staying over.. marriott stopped doing the free rooms for employees around the holidays, but they are doing a discount on the employee rate.. soooo.. i can get a couple of rooms at the residence inn and the springhill suites (both all suite hotels that provide free breakfast.. springhill has an indoor pool.. they're next to each other in milford) if anyones interested.. because there is an expense this year, i won't be booking all the rooms i can and then handing out random keys at the garage, but if anyone wants a room, lemme know and i will get you one..

websites for the hotels...

residence inn: king room with sofa bed marriott.com/bdrri $22.50 + tx/night
springhill suites: two double beds with sofa bed marriott.com/bdrsh $19.50 + tx/night

btw... i've stayed in both hotels for past gtg's and they were both nice.. but don't consider that a promise that they still are.. and no, i'm not sending anyone to the hotel that hec stayed at that one time.. Shocked lol...

Hey Mark,
How's everyone?  Good i hope.  This time of year is extremely busy for me, but i would love to try and make this as long as the Family is welcome.  This way my wife can drive back home... lol...
Can you update the first post with some more info?  like what's the start and end times for this Holiday extraviganza, How we can help this charity you mentioned, and maybee what kind of food you want brought.
I will bring whatever you want...

Consider me at a 75% Go for this GTG

Thanks for putting this together

Do we actually need a place to stay? or will the Garage be open 24/7 for modding this weekend?
It would help us if we did not need to leave and were able to stay on site. Huh

speaking of staying over.. marriott stopped doing the free rooms for employees around the holidays, but they are doing a discount on the employee rate.. soooo.. i can get a couple of rooms at the residence inn and the springhill suites (both all suite hotels that provide free breakfast.. springhill has an indoor pool.. they're next to each other in milford) if anyones interested.. because there is an expense this year, i won't be booking all the rooms i can and then handing out random keys at the garage, but if anyone wants a room, lemme know and i will get you one..

websites for the hotels...

residence inn: king room with sofa bed marriott.com/bdrri $22.50 + tx/night
springhill suites: two double beds with sofa bed marriott.com/bdrsh $19.50 + tx/night

btw... i've stayed in both hotels for past gtg's and they were both nice.. but don't consider that a promise that they still are.. and no, i'm not sending anyone to the hotel that hec stayed at that one time.. Shocked lol...

Looks like this is going to be a fun one

Erin has arranged for some rooms. I'm sure we will be here for quite a few hours anyway. If not I have plenty of space to crash at my house which is only 4 miles away.

Well I'm out. Been debating it over the past few days and the drive right now is just too far with the chitty weather we just got hit with so the cruise up probably wouldn't be much fun not top mention the crappy tires I have.
I did get my baby fixed already so that kewl  Cool!
Good news is I will have the next month or so off to do what ever  Woot! Woohoo!

Have fun guys.

Frankie can't wait to see ...o.k ride in that Avy and BTW thanks for the speaker offer I'll grab it hopefully at the next GTG.  Thumbs up! Wave

We went to pick up a Christmas tree yesterday and the AV would not start after sitting for a week. I guees my parasitic drain still exists. Thank goodness for dual batteries. Flipped a switch and she started right up  love

I have to start pulling fuses to find the culprit. But don't worry, I am still bringing Tartan Terror  Cheesy

1 (8oz) pkg cream cheese
1/2 c confectioner sugar
2 (3.5oz) pkgs vanilla instant pudding
3 1/2 c milk
1 (12oz) cool whip
1 (32 oz) pkg oreo's crushed (vanilla oreo's for cat litter cake)

Cream butter, cream cheese and sugar together. In large bowl, mix milk and pudding together. Add cream cheese mixture and cool whip to pudding (in the large bowl) and mix well. Layer crushed oreo's and pudding mixture in a pan, flower pot, cat box and try not to eat right away. Don't forget you can bury a few gummy worms for dirt or add a few 'shaped' tootsie rolls on top for cat litter.. mmmm! ;0)

Mashed Potato Soup

1/2 stick butter
1/2 c chopped onions
2 c mashed potatoes
1/2 c chicken broth
1/2 c milk
1 teaspoon celery or seasoned salt
pepper to taste

Melt butter in pan and use to saute onions. Once the onions are soft add the rest of the ingredients. Stir to 're-mash' potatoes and heat throughly. Add crumbled bacon, shredded cheese, sour cream or whatever else you can think of as toppings. Makes 2-3 servings, increase as needed. (For the big crock pot I used tonight a did the recipe X's 4, but only used 6 cups of mashed potatoes and added a bag of those new steam in your microwave chunk potatoes to make it 8 cups and to add texture)

Buffalo Chicken Dip
stolen from Pat and Rich before they left CT love

2 (10oz) cans of chunk chicken (from Costco usually) or 2 to 3 c precooked chicken breast
2 (8oz) pkgs cream cheese softened
1 c ranch dressing
3/4 c hot sauce
1 1/2 c shredded cheddar

Heat hot sauce, cream cheese and dressing until cream cheese is melted. Add chicken and cheddar cheese. You can either add half of the cheese now, then top with the remaining cheese when done to create a cheesey top layer or you can add all of the cheese now, which ever you prefer. I keep mine in a small crock pot which requires occasional stirring to keep well combined, so I just put all the cheese in at once.

I think that all y'all ask for.. if not lemme know and I'll post up..

off to bed now.. btw, it was an "official" MG gtg.. we left after 2am and enjoyed quite a few white outs.. i had a blast guys..  love

Ok who was it that I talked to about my triple flag mount at the party. I'm pretty sure it wasn't a dream, at least I think it wasn't. It does $uck that my memory is so bad, I really got to start using post-its. I just wanted to find out who it was, because there is a member selling theirs right now, never used. So if you still want one, I'd check it out.

sound like a plan. We could always  find a bates hotel for Friday night. I'd just have to check mspquest to see the drive distance if we left from here or new jersey.

It's funny you should ask. I was thinking this weekend I would start posting something about this. I wanted to get an early jump on it this year. Given the tough economic times, I would like to have this years event be a fund raiser of some sort. Toys for Tots, etc...

I really want to make it there this year. Last year I think it was on the same day as my company party.

I'm going to say Dec 19. I'm going to start a thread later and get a feel for dates. That one works best for me because its a non kid weekend. I'm sure my kids will be here for part of it anyway, but it makes it easier for me this way.

December 19th is Mastori's...  If this can be made later in the day, that's fine.  Would the 12th work better?
