Oh boy......this is probably the one place in the country I'm going to have a hard time turning down I've got my 20 yr high school reunion in TX(probably in the fall) and I need to get down to Galveston at some point to see the folks post-Ike. Not sure if the budget is going to be big enought o do it all. I'll have to see and may be a late addition to this. San Antonio is one of my all-time favorite cities

Put me down as a YES. I missed last year and wasn't happy about that at all. I'm sure Butch will be coming with me as well (unless his truck is done ). If it is then we will have to figure a way to tow it there. I know he won't drive it that far, but it would be cool to have an 800HP AV to drool over

Add me to the list.... Wife wants to do DisneyWorld in 2009. Depending on my bonus for this year, and accumulated vacation time, we may be able to do both (unless wifey has something else in mind...)

Texascwgrl, May be asking too much, but would it be possible to list the states next to the members names. It would meke it easier for us to get in touch with specific avy's that may want to caravan down there. DJDOLLARS69

Yes, we will be doing that when we start the registration process. It will be a different thread, and that should help many to hook up for caravaning ----------------------------------------------- EDITED: I guess Spork Driver is already on it! Thanks girl!!!!!

Estimated Time: 18 hours 33 minutes Estimated Distance: 1211.74 miles.... need to get another gas card See Shandar that isn't that far, its only 18 hours. You and everyone else can follow me. 10 hours the first day and the rest the second day. Or we can just drive straight thru.

I have a special gift for the first person to officially register! No one knows about this, not even Melissa. It's "family friendly", so don't think I'm living up to my name on this one....

What a nice guesture! Hmmm... hopefully we will be ready to open up for registration after the first of the year. Still awaiting information on the charity, then we will be able to move forward with more stuff and open up for discussion a few more of our National threads!

Heard a news story yesterday that should help with travel. The CEO of Exxon/Mobil said he expects $1 or less a gallon gas this summer.

That's the national average. For those of us where prices are usually below the average, we could see high 80's and low 90 cent pump prices.

Actually I've heard something similar. Our news stations are saying that the AAA experts are saying we could be paying less than $1.00 by the beginning of the year. I hope their right and it continues into the summer. Then my biggest worry will have to be paying for my room...

Well.....there is good news, bad and badder news with the price of oil today.
Good news: Gas is cheaper
Bad news: No longer economically viable to explore and drill at $40/barrel
Badder news: When the Middle East cuts us off again (and they will), we'll scramble again with $4+/gal gas and everyone will be playing the grab-a$$ game and rethoric to "diversify" our energy policy.
Around here in the North Texas area, several oil companies have been drilling everywhere. I even have a contract to drill under my house in my neighborhood. But, with oil at $40/barrel right now, they have almost stopped all activity.
Meanwhile....store up your $1/gal gas so everyone can come to the Nationals this year. Pick a piece of that fine Texas real estate, stay awhile, Texas will eventually secede from the US and you can join in that control 75% of the oil refining capacity.
btw....we use Prius' for door stops in Texas

Wow... good thing gas has come down, between my 16 miles per gallon AV and my 13 miles per gallon JEEP... I am sunk if they go back up again.
I am SO looking forward to seeing everyone next year!!!! When we traveled last year to Pigeon Forge, gas stayed in the area of $4 per gallon, which ran about 700.00 for gas last year!

Thats what keep me from going I would really like to see the price of gas to NOT be a deal-breaker for anyone this year. It was a bummer that we lost so many folks due to rising prices. Maybe we can gain a few due to lowering prices I filled up yesterday for $1.48 at a local Walmart

Just noticed I am the only one that will be coming from Utah. I am Nevada right now but that is changing so when I get to Utah I am going to have to turn up the pressure cooker a bit and get some to roll too

I just punched it in 23 Hours and 22 Mins to get to San Antonio! We will most likely stop in tennessee and finish the trek the next day. We will be going through West Virginia,Kentucky,Tennessee,Arkansas, and of course Texas! I am pumped and I know my girlfriend is. Any thing cool we should see in those states on the way back? wow we have so much planning to do haha. what a great summer this should be.

I would recommend trying to hook up with others on the way if the timing works out. It is always better to drive with other AVs!! We will have a full week of events planned and other sightseeing options and attractions lined up here in San Antonio... stay tuned! We are also in the process of negotiating discounted room rates at a great hotel. We look forward to meeting you and your GF. JJ

Really wanted to go to this, but have to have back surgery Friday 1-16-09, be off work for 3 - 6 months, not sure if I'll have any vacation time left or be able to travel that far, but I'll still try. Really wanted to see some old friends.

Unfortunately, we won't be able to make the drive down. It's just too far. According to Google, it's over 2000 miles each way I hope everyone has fun down there though! Would have loved to go.

Thank you. I was great meeting all of you at lunch. My wife really enjoyed it and is even talking about joining up here on CAFNA. Now, after seeing what has been done to the different AV's, she understands what I want to do to ours. I'm really looking forward to San Antonio, I really must be, because I'm using vacation tome that I normally use for hunting.

I'm thinking I can't miss national. Texascwgrl will Rock it and I'll be mad I didn't show up. I'll be in Canada for the summer so I'm thinking I'll fly to San Antonio. I'll be AVless but better then not being there at all. So maybe list for me for now.

Aussie is backing out too. Sorry gang but no one is going to be able to ride with me and seems that I will be coming from Utah alone and just not comfortable rolling that far alone anymore. At my age a health issue could happen and being out there for 1400 miles alone is not something I want to be doing any longer. I would love to be there and when I was coming my daughter was able to ride with me and attend too. Sadly economy has said otherwise for her. Enjoy it all who are able to get there.

Rednecks are always welcomed in Texas. We need more of you. In fact, we need more in Washington DC to be able to tell "right from wrong".

Going to have to bow out on this. I have more pressing issues and may need my vacation time for more immediate issues. My mom was admitted into the hospital over the weekend.

Going to have to bow out on this. I have more pressing issues and may need my vacation time for more immediate issues. My mom was admitted into the hospital over the weekend.
Take care of the family. Let me know if anything changes

I think it's finally safe to say that I won't be able to make it this year... I just started a new job and I won't have any time off accrued yet...I sure hope to see everyone later this year down south...

I'm not going to be able to make it. We will be in TX that weekend visiting family in Galveston. We rarely get to see them, so don't want to rush off from Galveston in order to make this. I'm sure it will be a blast, but I'm going to have to stick near the coast that weekend. I went to college near San Antonio and it is one of my very favorite cities to visit. It really hurts that I won't be making this GTG.

OK.. Who is next to go from the preregistration list over to the Officially Registered" list? Remember: Even if you can't make it, a registration guarantees the welcome bag, t-shirts, name badges, etc.. and you know the excess funds go to the charity beneficiary.
