Hey, hey, wait a minute!  I was only trying to have a little fun on that thread, then no one posted up!

You're right though, the MD area is moving along like 30 weight oil in sub zero temperatures.  Just look how long it is taking for the MD Contact list to gain any names.  The previous ambers thread was started by soco, but I haven't seen him on the boards in a long time.  Not sure what's up, hope he's ok.

Here's my ambers again.  Now let's see this one move along!

I've been sick in bed for the past couple of days, but when I get better I'll go out and shoot pics of my ambers.

My ambers are only on in the day time.  So, my ambers will obviously be seen more in summer.

If you want a night time pic and dont have the all on high mod your DRL's light up when you push the unlock button on your key fob, at least mine do

Bummer....on the '08 it lights up the turn signals, not the ambers.   banghead  Someone had mentioned before that was a great way to check the ambers after an install, but not on the '07-'08's.

Yes, I know it does that.  If I wanted to do that during the day I could just put something over the light sensor.   Thumbs up!

I'll try to get a shot if I feel better tomorrow.

Don't get discouraged!  Look how long it took me to get a few names on the MD Contact list.  Three months to get 23 names on the list.  Seems like this area is taking way too long to wake up.  The GTG next Sat has a couple from MD going, but no one from DE (the state where the GTG is!)

Keep bumping the thread!  We'll get more sooner or later.   Thumbs up!

My truck is Arrival Blue.  I do have Ford keys in there.  It's not perfectly level, but I didn't want to crank it too much.  I just wanted a nicer stance w/o a lift.  My tires are 285s.

Thanks for adding me to the list.

ok im a computer dummy and a car dummy, I joined the sight because I love my av (actually thinking of looking at some 09's to keep my wife away from my av, i think i might trade in both my mountaineers and see what the 09 avalanche cost is after that) and I love seeing what others do to their av.  can someone explain to me what a GTG is and what Ambers are?

No worries superdamo. Ambers is referring to swapping your white day time running light bulbs to amber bulbs. This is how to distinguish a member from a non-member.  Amber also looks much better in my opinion.

See mine in next post.

The DRLs are only on when the vehicle is running and in gear.  If you put it in park, the DRLs will go out. So, to see them have someone start your truck and put it in gear.

I don't know about the Gen2 Avs, but on mine at night, when I unlock the truck with the remote the DRLs light.  You can put a hat or something over the light sensor and trick the truck into thinking it's night time.  Voila.... DRLs. Smiley

It's not that difficult to change them or find the bulbs.  Any Advance Auto Parts and some WalMarts wil have the bulbs.  Check the '07+ installation instructions in the amber secsion and you can see how to do it.  If not, just bring them to the GTG at DuClaw and we can do it for you.  It's easy if you have done it before like I have.

gn85 is right, the DRL's do not iluminate when you open the doors with the remote on the '07+ AVs.  Need to put the vehicle in drive to see them.

If you can't find them let me know.  I have two Advance Autos within 6 miles of my house and several other auto stores.  I can bring them to the GTG next weekend.  I think I'm going to save a couple extra in my AV anyway for "parking lot mods".

both advanced auto parts in glen burnie didnt have them but I went to the advanced auto parts in Largo and picked them up.  It looks like all I need is a 10mm socket but ill check the sight on how to install them 1st.  Hopefully I can get them installed b4 the GTG this weekend.  Also hopefully these are the right ones, the base looks different from the clear ones that pep boys tried to sell me.

Glad you found them.  As long as you have a 3157 bulb you have the correct one.  They can be Silver Stars or Extended life bulbs, but if the number is the same and they are ambers you have the correct one.  I made the mistake of grabbing a 3757 bulb which is the turn signal bulb and has a nub on the end which can be shaved off to fit into the socket.
Click the link on my previous post for instructions how to install them in your year AV.  I would read through everything before installing if you have not done it before.  Don't worry, the first few pages make it sound difficult to do.  Go to page 6, post #139 and it gives you a shortcut.  I've installed in two AV's with this method and done them in less than 30 minutes.

I think some members have also used the 4157 bulbs...  they will fit just as well as the 3157's.

If you do end up with the 3757 (or 4757) bulbs, we can make them fit.  That's actually what I am running in mine... (because I was too lazy to walk back into the store to exchange them... - I did this MOD in the store's parking lot!!)

Good point, forgot the 4157.  So how do you know about the 3757?  Big laughter with tears  Somehow my photo made the site because of that.....

I found out about the 3757's by accident.  The store had them right next to each other on the rack, I picked those because the 3157's they had were not "dark" amber, so I got them, then shaved the nub a little to make them fit...  Had to turn one of them 180* to make it work.  I lucked out on the other one!

3 years, no replacement!  (yet)

yeah I just saw your post count.  Not many...

I also saw Tango Chaser gave you a link how to do it.  Boost your count by saying hello to new members.  Always an easy way to get enough.  If not, become a supporting member and you're in.

I was trying to get a picture of MD2500AVs ambers in my rear view mirror, but I couldn't get the shot fast enough AND drive.

Actually the opposite.  He was catching up to me too fast.  I was sitting at a traffic light and I couldn't get the shot before he caught up to me.
