Have an 04. Was broken into few months back. Finally settled with insurance (it pays to fight and know what you're talking about, went from 2000 to 3800 bucks).

Had a Kenwood 7017 in it, and it was OK, but had its cons (couldn't figure out a way to get it to stop showing new chapter info while watching a movie. Very annoying.)

My TomTom was also taken. Planning on getting a cheap Garmin to replace it, but an all-in-one unit is OK too, as long as I can still watch movies rather uninterrupted until I have a turn coming up.

So what should I get? I'd want to keep it on the south side of $700 or so ebay price.

I need 3 sets of preouts. Have 2 amps under the cupholder, and a sub where the rear HVAC controls used to be. The thief didn't touch the sub and couldn't find the amps, though he ripped the interior apart looking. Factory compatability is clearly a non-issue.

I don't have an ipod or bluetooth phone, but future use might be nice.

Being able to play mpeg vids would be nice.

Digital radio would be a bonus, either built in or a cheap adapter.

Plan on putting another monitor above the sub for rear passengers, so a video out is wanted, that will still have the HU monitor active.

Apart from that....just let me know what you think. Should I even consider the GM unit? Is putting in a laptop screen in the dash and putting the guts of the laptop elsewhere a good option, or just a pain in the butt?

I do my own work, so custom mounting stuff is fine.

So what's the opinion? Should also add that if there's some sensor I can't defeat that keeps vids from showing while driving, I don't want it.

thanks
