Hi LMM,

This product is not coloured... it is clear.  It will work on '02s as well as it does on '03-up.  It will eliminate the swirls and faded spots about 98%, but does eventually start to wear off after about 6-9 months.  If you do a search for Refinish Restorer Before/After Pics, you will see how well it works.  Refinish Restorer Before After Linky Thingy

The difference between RR and Armor All-type products.... it won't streak down your paint, it is not washed off by the rain or car wash, and it lasts a LOT longer!

I give it a Big  Thumbs up!

Thanks for the info djhype...I think I will do this after my hubby paints my AVY, there are a few rust spots that he wants to fix, and I want a different paint colour.  I just have to wait until his castle..I mean...his garage is built.  Cheesy

Hey All,
Thought I would let you know that there is another successful Refinish Restorer application!  Cheesy

Thanks to Tigercub for getting me pointed in the right direction.. I was able to secure a bottle of Refinish Restorer in Hamilton (well Stoney Creek actually) at Dura Chemicals on Grays Rd.

It took about a week to arrive from the west coast somewhere and I spent the better part of today working on the Av.
My 2003 was really faded and two applications seems to make it look pretty good. I will have to see how it holds up and maybe add a third coat in September or so. Either way I am pretty happy with the result I got today.

Now as soon as I can figure out how to post a  set of pic's I will do that.

DEW,

Glad you were able to find the Refinish Restorer.

I've used Dura Chemicals before for auto paint supplies and found them very helpful.

Yes, they were helpful. The guy that helped me was Rick. He knew exactly what I was looking for.

The Car Systems Ontario Sales Rep also suggested to go to them. If they (Dura) could not get it for me, he was willing to look for another avenue in order to get it to me.

I know I have seen alot of posts in this thread mentioning CarQuest, but I called almost every one of them in the local area (from Hagersville to Oakville) and it really looked like they had either no idea what I was looking for or were not interested in getting it in for me.

Moral of the story - if you want to use RR, go to Dura Chemical to get it or call the Ontario Sales Rep- he will hook you up.

Hee Hee, my best buddy has an 02 Avalanche and thought he knew EVERYTHING there was to keeping it in like new condition. He 's done a pretty good job over these years but the cladding was problematic. Today I demonstrated  some R/R on some of his panels and boy did his eyes light up!

Needless to say, he didn't want me to stop "just another panel"...but I did anyway.

Looks good DEW!!

It's amazing stuff isn't it Dew? ...your sail panels and bed covers look like new again...I've done my AV twice and still half over half a can left but next time I'm in Stoney Creek I might run out to Dura Chemicals and get some more cause I plan on keeping my 04 for many years to come...love that AVY!!

Stick...It's wipe on and it goes a long way...like I said...I've done my WBH AV twice...Two coats each time and still have half a can...get some...it's worth the cost and the time it takes to make the cladding look like your AV just came off the line  Grin

Just to help a little, the Car Quest in Cambridge Ontario keeps this in stock all the time. He knows exactly what it is and what it is used for. I called there this morning and they had it out on the counter for me to pick up. He told me that not all the Car Quest stores order it in as it is not something the warehouse keeps.

How's everyone's  RR holding up?  I've got about 3 months on my bed panels, and the big white spots are coming back.  I'm sure all the rain hasn't helped.

I just did all the cladding in RR and it looks like new, my truck has not looked this good in a long time. I just installed new American Racing Thug rims with the teflon coating as my original ones were corroding really bad.
I give Refinish Restorer the big  Thumbs up! lets see how long it lasts.

Sorry all I just got back from a few weeks holidays. Stick it was just as Drummer stated. Just wipe in on let it dry. This of course assumes you have the Av nice and clean before you start. I really did not do to much in that area, just a simple wash.

I maybe used a 1/6th of the can on my 2003 WBH. So I would assume I have enough for the next few years atleast.

To premature for me to comment, but I will let you know how mine turns out. I actually think I will do it again before the snow flies to ensure I have a good base before the salt gets a chance to eat at it.

Loneraider- if it works for you then great. I am not sure about mixing RR with Back to Black. You may need to do some special steps before adding in the RR if you ever go that route.

All I can say is I put this on in July and it still looks great after sitting in full sun. Numerous people (non Avalanche enthusiasts like us) have pointed it out how well it looks too. I did apply another coat a week or so ago to make sure it is ready for the winter.
Prior to adding in this coat, it was still looking great, but the rain does not really 'bead' up on it any more.

Does the RR preclude future painting? In other words, is it silicone based? I know if you use ArmorAll or similar then painting is a lot of work.

I don't believe it is silicone-based... it is a cleaner and sealer, not a coverup.  It's not an Armor-All, it is an industrial cleaner/treatment used by the auto body industry to "restore" that plastic crap we have on our trucks and many other vehicles in North America.

If you read any and all threads in this forum, you will see that it does have a limited life of 3 to 6 months.  I know from reading, and experience, that how, when, and where you apply it does have an effect on its durability.

Having said that, I am sure that it will have to be cleaned off or removed before any paint is applied to said body parts.

Thumbs up! Still think it is great
 stuff!

In regards to how long it lasts, I did mine in July and right now I am looking at it in the driveway and it still looks great. I would suspect that the box covers may need a reapplication at this time just because they are in the direct sun all the time. The side cladding still looks like new.

This product is worth every penny in my opinion!!!!  Thumbs up!

I have owned 60+ vehicles and never kept anything longer then 2 years except for my Avalanche..........BEST truck I have ever owned.!!!!  Thumbs up!
