Is there some other site to order a upgrade DVD for my 07 OEM NAV system? I go the GM NAV website and enter VIN # and get the 08 & 09 release are on backorder! I recently visited the site and don't know if this is temporary or is an on going issue.

Probably a old issue and you may have to stand in line for one. Don't forget the price is right on those (FREE).

You could always try the dealer.

I have a 2006 with NAV that was suppose to get the 2 free upgrades.  I just remembered this last week when I had the tranny rebuilt by the dealer but when I enter my VIN on the GM NAV website it says I need to pay $199 for it.  So I called the GM NAV yesterday and they said I had to order them in 2007 and 2008...  Shocked  If thats the case why didn't they notify me... Angry  I even remember doing a survey for the NAV 6 months after I bought the truck so I know they had my address.  I even remember asking the dealer about the NAV DVD update about a year after I got it but they didn't have a clue about it.

Anyways, can anyone help me  Help me! found a way to get what I paid for?  Is there someone I can call or send a letter to?  There was no mention of a time limit to the update offer when I purchased the Avalanche... at least they could've notify me!

Thanks for the quick response!!  Has anyone heard or surprised that they are putting some kind've time limit on the free updates for customers that bought the 06 AV (I think other GM vehicles gave out this offer that year)?

Anyways I'll call the Chevy Customer Service Center tomorrow and plead my case.

I cannot beleive the stuff GM is pulling when they are in dire need of customer support and doing little things like this is what destroys customer loyalty.

I was just at a Ford Fleet Preview and they had a demo on their SYNC system. They say they will never make a customer purchase new hardware or software. SYNC is always software upgradable no matter how old your version is.

Mapping GEOdata files are FREE!.....you hear that GM?HuhHuhHuh

No discs, flash upgrades only through SD Card at dealership and coming up more options then OnStar.....FORD says why make customer pay for a cell-phone and an OnStar subscription at 2X price. They say the customer should leverage existing data and voice services on their cell plan and SYNC just lets them do that easier.

WOW what a concept....thinking to save the customer money!

If you get a chance check it out its unbeleivable.....their Gen8 SYNC is going to have HMI Human Machine Interface where a talking computer person is your assistant through SYNC doing almost anything you need.

No wonder Ford doesnt need the bailout $$$$$$$

Why is it only 07's get the upgrade? I was under the impression all nav units got it for the first two years....I called today about my 08 and they said it was only for the 07's? Why?  was there something wrong with them

There was nothing wrong with the 2007 Nav Disc.

I have one and I had no problems

GM just decided to make the customer pay starting in 2008. Brutal I know.......no wonder they are in the spot there in today with decisions like that. Thumbs down

I'd like to report about my missing free DVD upgrades turned out.  Calling the Chevy Customer Assitance Center was lost time in listening to annoying computer generated selections that got me no where.

So I decided to go back to the dealer.  Luckly I kept the original sticker that proved I had two free NAV DVD included in the sticker price Thumbs up!  Then decided to plan for at least an hour to explain the issue.  When I arrived I had to wait for 30 min for service manager before he was even available.  Then we went to his office and after explaining the issue in detail, he actually called the 800 NAV number which meant we wait another 15 minutes for them to answer.  Then he gave them my VIN and got the same response saying I had to take delivery by end of 2008 but they also said they sent notifications in the mail.  Then the service manager asked them what the mailing address they had for my VIN which she reported was missing Shocked  Well this at least confirmed I was telling the truth that I said all along that I didn't get any notifications banghead  By then I had been at the dealer for hour and half but knew at this point I had convinience the service manager I didn't get all that I paid for.  Then the service manager walked me up to the front desk of the head sales manager.  Then he proceeded to repeat the above and the sales manager had to say they screwed up on getting the NAV company my mailing info and finaly told the service manager to buy it for me at no cost.  Now I don't expect I'd get my 2nd free update out of them but at least I got one.

Now that I spent this much effort to get the 09 NAV DVD... how can I make a back-up copy and use it so can save the original?  If you don't want to post here please PM me.  Thanks.

If you still have a copy of your NAV disc I might be interested in buying it.

Thanks,
