Looks like Pioneer is coming out with a new head unit!  This was just announced yesterday (June 13).  Here are some details:

Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. today unveiled the AVIC-Z110BT, its flagship in-dash navigation system that allows consumers to simultaneously access mapping and route guidance information, enjoy various forms of audio and video entertainment, control an Apple iPod®/iPhone® and a Bluetooth® enabled cell phone with natural voice commands and receive updated traffic, weather and local event information via an optional MSN Direct® tuner. The AVIC-Z110BT navigation system features a large motorized 7-inch touch panel display, CD/DVD Video playback, built-in Bluetooth and a customizable touch screen interface for quick access to frequently used features.

In addition to a 4GB hard drive, here are some additional details that caught my eye:

■Bluetooth Capability – The system is equipped with Parrot® Bluetooth, enabling hands-free cellular phone operation with the car’s speakers and the supplied microphone. The system pairs with up to five compatible Bluetooth-enabled cellular phones and can hold an entire phone book for voice activated phone calls, caller ID and hands-free operation. In addition, with compatible devices, the Bluetooth feature allows audio streaming to transmit music wirelessly and control (play, stop, pause, track up/down/forward/rewind) Bluetooth-enabled portable audio players using the Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP) and the Audio/Video Remote Control Profile (AVRCP).
■Enhanced Voice Guidance – The AVIC-Z110BT uses a Text-to-Speech (TTS) engine and a Tele Atlas database to enable the system to clearly verbalize street names.
Audio and Video Entertainment
In addition to navigation functionality, the AVIC-Z110BT is a state-of-the art entertainment system and includes a motorized, high-resolution 7-inch WVGA touch screen display, high quality audio and video playback, dual zone entertainment, iPod/iPhone control and USB connectivity.

■Enhanced iPod/iPhone Control – Pioneer enhanced the interface for iPod/iPhone devices with passenger control, link search and video playback.

■Passenger Control gives the option for passengers to browse and select music directly through the iPod player itself
■Link Search let users view a list of all available content by the currently playing artist (similar to the “artist” folder function on an iPod)
■Video Playback allows the user to access video content from a connected iPod/iPhone device for playback to optional rear seat monitors.
■DVD video/ CD playback and Dual Zone – The AVIC-Z110BT supports playback of DVD Video, DVD-R/RW and CD/CD-R/RW discs. Recordable discs with iTunes® AAC, MP3, WMA, WAV, DivX® and MPEG4 files are also supported. The system also features dual zone entertainment, sending video and audio content from the DVD player to optional rear seat monitors and wireless headphones*3 while the driver and front passenger listens to AM/FM/HD®/XM®/SIRIUS® Satellite Radio or certain other connected sources.
■USB*4/SD slot – Compatible portable devices with a USB connection, such as hard drives and flash memory drives, can be linked through the available USB cable that is connected to the rear of the unit. The system also accepts compatible SD memory cards through the slot located behind the motorized front panel

For anyone interested, it is out now.  Details can be found online here:  http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Products/CarAudioVideo/In-Dash/GPS-Navigation-Systems/AVIC-Z110BT

Also, the cheapest I have found it thus far is $1,199 here:  http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=21938

Note that it has 4GB internal memory.  It also has a USB input in the rear, so one could actually get a 32GB USB stick and load your music onto that!  Cool stuff!

i'm very interested in seeing one in person to play with.  I have the Z3 and would like a better bluetooth and newer maps.

wish pioneer would offer map upgrades, instead of having to change out your system to get new maps!!

One thing i hope they left on the Z model is the ability to choose from mulitiple routes, vs other nav systems that just choose your route for you. that was what made my Z deck stand out from the other systems out there.  all nav systems just auto route you, where the Z and D Avic system allows you to pick which route you want, and at times is best to choose a different route than the first chossen by the nav system.  as i know the first route might put me right into traffic, or around the city that i know traffic is always slower etc.

if the bluetooth is better, and i can still choose my route like my current Z3, well i'll be all over this like a fat kid on a buffet!!

Uh-oh!

No mention of iPhone 3GS compatibility:  http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/ephox/StaticFiles/PUSA/Files/2009%20Pioneer%20AVIC-Z110BT%20iPod%20iPhone%20Compatibility%20Chart.pdf

I have a stereo we use that works with the 3G iPhone, but will not with the 3GS, so it isn't guaranteed just because it worked with 3G, if that matters to you.

hmm.. thanks for the tip info...

i have both the 3G and the 3Gs..    what i'd like to see, is somewhere in my area that is offering it (Whitby, Ontario, Canada).  however, it was hard enough to find a Z3, doubt i'll get lucky to find one in person i can see.

Here we go - I just replaced the factory BOSE navigation system in my new 2008 Chevy Avalanche LTZ. Here's a run down of the system with the pricing I paid and where I purchased it:
Head Unit: ZVIC Z100BT - Amazon, $1329 (Discount Jungle)
Amplifier: JL Audio HD600 / 4 - eBay, new, $511.24 (Seller is audio-club)
Front door 6.5" speakers and tweeter: Jl Audio VR650-CSi Car Component System - eBay $129
Rear door 5-1/4" speakers: Alpine SPR-13C Coaxial 2-way speakers - Discount Auto Sound (Newport News, VA), $149 installed
1 Pioneer CD-IU50V USB iPod - Amazon, $42.81
Pioneer GEX-P920XM XM Satellite Tuner - Amazon, $88.78
GMOS-LAN-02 LAN OnStar Interface for Amplified Systems - Amazon, $96.68
PIONEER GEX-P20HD - HD TUNER - Amazon, $91.41

I followed the instructions for the Z100BT bypass, and it works great!    I still can't post pics on this forum, but you can see complete details of my installation, along with a bypass video, here:  http://avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=56&t=26314&p=180154#p180154

and Nice avy too!

i've had the Z3 for a while, but want the new maps.  let me  ask you, when typing in an address, wondering if it's the same process as before

asks address, than street, than gives you a list of places to choose from.  rather than other gps' where you have to coose the city first.

can you let me know?
