FYI...

You may find one but I doubt it will fit due to the sway bar and how close it is to cover..
check older threads in this section and you will see where some found out the hard way

yea but they were referring to the finned ones to dissipate the heat, i would think one that doesnt have all the fins going on it would fit like just a chrome version of the one on their, which obviously fits.  theres plenty of them on summit racing for real cheap i just dont know which would fit.

Well if it doesn't fit, you could just modify the mounts for the swaybar, a couple of members have done that so they could fit those Mag-Hytec covers on their rear diffs.

what are the specs on the z66 differential? what are the bolt sizes and what not? no one can seem to answer this simple question on a previous post so im trying once again.

It's a GM 10 bolt with a 8.5" ring gear.  (some people refer to it as a 8.6", don't worry, they are the same thing)

Try purplecranium.com....they have custom covers...I bought covers and spider guards for my '72 Blazer after I put 1-ton axles in.

They did a nice job!

I spoke to these guys as well and they do make one that fits the stock app. The problem is the panhard bar as it passes right by the upper half of the cover and only offers ~2" of clearance (I did measure this but cant remember for sure). Many guys have done some alterations on the panhard and sways to get the fit for larger ones.
I wud like to point out that tho heat disappation is important, if ur running stock G-80 a better investment is to upgrade to an Eaton or Auburn LSD. Cooling it down never hurts, but the real limitation is the guts. If ur running just stock ponies, there's no real need, unless u like to change the fluid and then the drain plug is painless! Cool!

I put the mag-hytech cover on with some slight modifications to the cover itself ( lowered the fins with a grinder at the upper 1/3 of the cover). I'd be a little concerend about modifying the track bar because it may alter the performence, anybody have thoughts?

I've recently added a 1.5"  coil spacer which has caused rubbing again and may need to do further grinding to the cover, I kinda feel like I'm defeating the purpose....

Durwin did you end up putting the cover on yours? Did you have any clearance issues?

Thanks in advance!
