Hey guys, I recently moved from the US to the UAE for work.  I had a Black 2003 Avy Z71 and decided to just ship it here instead of selling it off in the US, since it runs like a charm.  Figure I'll use it for a few years here and sell it, since they are not the most common vehicle in the UAE.  No problems whatsoever importing the beast into Dubai, and it definitely fits in with the other big Land Cruisers and Nissan Patrols.

Any other UAE members around?

Welcome to CAFCNA  Wave

Good luck with the job and have fun playing in the sandbox with the AV in UAE. Just point out that it shares parts with Silverado, Sierra, Suburban, Tahoe, Yukon when you decide to sell it as availability of parts is a concern some places.

Thanks!  I'm absolutely going to be offroading the AV, not sure how extreme I'll take it, but I'm sure she'll handle decently as long as I dont push it in the deep sand dunes....

Am also driving an Avalanche in the hot and sunny Dubai.

Black 2009 Z71 with a big Harely Davidson sticker on the back.

Just flash your lights as we cruise down Sh Zayed road...

Drive save and mind the smaller cars on the road.

Hi, new here, but had the Avalanche a couple of years in the USA and am thinking of bringing it to Qatar. I just wondered if anyone had overheating in the summer in the Gulf with an imported USA spec model. I keep hearing how the export models have larger radiators but cannot get any info to be sure.
Any help would be gratefully recieved. Thanks

Welcome! guys....don't know how I missed this.  My hubby was just in Dubai not too long ago and is currently in Afghanistan (obviously without the AV).  Maybe you can have a gtg if he makes it through there again.  Northface was nice enough to do that for a few in Kuwait.  Wave

I had my AV come from the US and i used it in Kuwait for 4 years. At first everything was fine, nothing overheated, but i had a few issues with overheating as parts wore out, but i replaced the thermostat, fan clutch, waterpump, and coolant and everything was fine. And the rumors about larger radiators on export models is just another marketing BS dealers use to sell their cars, they all have the same size radiators.

Maybe we can link up on one of my future trips through there. I had the pleasure of getting to know NorthFace35 on a couple of my trips through Kuwait and now that I'm in Afghan (as Spork Mentioned) I spend more time going through Dubai than I do in Kuwait. Anyway, welcome to the club.

And NorthFace, good to see you. Hope everything is going well and Little NorthFace isn't keeping you up too much at night  Thumbs up!

Hi Thanks I really appreciate the information and your reply. It makes sense that I can't get any information fromChevy if they are BSing just to get me to buy another vehicle. Thanks
