I posted this a while ago with no real resolution.  Of couse the dealer can't reproduce the noise...go figure.  banghead

After a stop, when I start to make a turn I get a low, light thump.  It feels like it is right below my floorbaord on the drivers side.  It sometimes occurs when I am making a long sweeping turn at slow speed (maybe 25mph).  Does anyone have any ideas what this may be? Thanks in advance!

yes, it is a 4x4.  The dealer checked the underside and front end.

I don't know about the 2007's and newer but the older ones can have either a intermittent steering shaft that will cause the thump when making a sweeping turn at slow speed. Also there is a cross member hole problem on some that produces a similar feel........ you can search for "intermittent steering shaft" MAKE SURE TO USE THE   "  "'s.

I'm not sure it would be the steering shaft.  I dont' feel anything in the steering wheel.  It seems like I feel it on the floorboard.  Thanks for the quick responses!

I have it too. You can feel it right under your feet, mostly when turning left sometimes when turning right. I didn't notice it until I took it offroad on the sand at Assateague Island, took it easy not going faster than 25 and only driving a 1/2 mile down to my parking spot. It's annoying as hell!

Going back to the dealer on Friday.  I will let you know if they find the problem.

If that is the sound you mean I caled the poplel that did my lift and the dealer ad they said that its just the car doing it... they said that the tahoes and suburbans do it too.

if you happen to take it back in later, request to ride along with.  Try and duplicate exactly what you do when you drive.  On a sad note with my old av, I requested to ride along for that annoying buzzing/singing/humming noise at highway speeds.   Of course it didnt do it with the tech driving.   It did however do it driving home from the dealer. banghead

I have an idea because mine did this, but I would be surprised if a dealer passed over it, but I missed it on mine multiply times.  Check the sway bar linkage.  The nut holding the top of my linkage broke off before and looking at it it seems fine, but when you make a turn it would pop out and then back into place making a loud sound just as you describe.  This could also happen to the bottom nut I imagine, so check both top and bottom pieces of the linkage on both sides of the sway bar.  I really hope this is it first so you can make your dealership fell like a bunch of idiots as well as the fact that it is around a $10 fix.

Had mine in the dealer yesterday for this. it was the left front body mount. they replaced it with a new one and no more noise!
the bulletin number for it is 06-08-61-003d. they replaced part number ch15899719 insulator.
hope this helps some one else.

Here is a picture of what I was talking about.  This has happened to my AV.   The nut on the bottom section of the sway bar linkage broke off so the linkage was popping in an out when I turned. You can not see the bolt just looking at it, so it took driving the truck at a slow speed with a friend laying on a creeper undernieth to figure out the problem.  I have seen the same thing happen to the top nut also circled in the picture on a friends Silverado.  That is much more obviouse to just looking at it.

Here is a picture of my front body mount.  I do have abody lift but it is the same concept just with a longer bolt.  I can't imagine how that bolt came out or maybe the rrubber dampener just cracked or something causing slack and metal to metal contact on turns.  Very wierd problem, but good to know.

O it is just hard to find out if you are unaware.  Once I found it fixed in 10 minutes or so. Just check it visually and make sure the bushings on both sides of the top and bottom of the sway bar linkage are good, snug, and that the bolts still fastened on.  If not it is a real easy to fix and I think the sway bar linkage is like $10.
