I have a 2003 AV with the stock HU with BOSE.  I was wondering if anyone has done or if it is possible to swap the unit with a newer AV's unit such as part #25846421.  I really want to hook up a backup camera to this and have the navigation/mp3/dvd playback.

Any suggestions bring them on.

I installed a Kenwood Nav system in my '04 three years ago, along with a backup camera. They just needed the right wiring harness to hook into the Bose original equip. Tho, only the "up & down" and "programs" buttons now work on the steering wheel. No mute anymore. They said there weren't enough "outlets?" for all. No input for mp3, though newer units do have it. If I had it to do over again I'd probly go with the factory unit tho it cost more. I also just received notice of map updates to go an SD card - supposedly in the back of the unit. But, I lost the two tool clips to pull the unit out of the dash - don't really know if my Kenwood has the SD card or not.

The size of the unit is really close to the same so I am sure I can get it to work (within 1/8" or so) depending on how well the seller measured it.  My biggest worry is the wiring.  I understand and have the part numbers for the GPS antenna, and backup camera, but have no idea where to get a wiring harness for something like this conversion or if I am missing anything else that sets these units aside.  I would like to have my steering wheel controls work, but is not necessary (I don't use them, but nice for resale).

Also does anyone know if anyone on this forum still programs these if you mail them to him/her?  There was one, but I see he is not a member.  I would like to make sure that it can be programmed to my VIN or whatever it is that is done in by the tec. to get this going after the install.  Even with the best idea for hooking it up if I can't get it past the blue screen it will be worthless.

I don't think it is going to work, and you are right the rewire is going to be a nightmare. And if the 05 BCM does not recognise it, it will say theftlocked. I would pass on 07 Nav.

Ok so I am not going to even attempt this.  That being the case I see allot of people who have upgraded 07 and up.  But who out there has put a Nav/DVD/Backup camera system in there truck.  I have been looking around and find so many at a range of prices.  I would prefer one that isnt the flip up type and the backup camera is not a must.  But if you really like yours shoot me the details.  My local best buy has nothing and I want to make and informed/least expensive decision.  If it doesn't have backup camera I was thinking of putting a 9" screen in the big rectangular holder we have below the climate controls.  I never use this area and think it would be nice to have the camera on all the time being that my truck is so high and I can't even see cars behind me at stop lights.

How about adding a Stock Nav unit from a 04-06 and picking up a adapter for the backup camera.

But they do have some great After Market units.

That member who programmed them is MachoMachoDan but I have not seen him post lately. Maybe try to PM him and I know he sells them also on Ebay.
