It's official!  The 2010 Worldwide GTG!!

I'm looking for ideas posted on this thread for where you all would like to meet for this fun-filled weekend.  My idea is to team up with a few surrounding states to make this a bigger event - possibly NJ, PA, VA to name a few.

This is a summer time event, so maybe somewhere up in the mountains?  Beach?  Camping, canoeing, hiking, horseback riding, cruises, food, hotels, cabins, etc.

I'm also looking for members to assist coordinating events during the GTG.  Volunteers please let me know.

Post your ideas here and I'll start a voting thread early 2010 so we can finalize location and events.

Hey Harry
not trying to sound like a smartzz or anything but reread your title. Worldwide National? Should it just be Worldwide GTG?

Saright. It's easy to understand the excitement. Maybe one of the mods will get rid of that first post I put in and clean up the quote. I can't report my own post.

Interesting.  Let me put my thinking cap on.

How big of an event are you thinking?? One day? Multiple days?

Multiple days - that's why it's July 23-25  Big laughter with tears Just kidding

..but seriously, maybe one day at a location, cruise to another, cruise to another...

I don't have any problems with it.  Glad you pointed it out.  I usually feel like  Angry when I see thread titles spelled incorrectly.

Yah, guess I skimmed too much when I read this one.  Just trying to catch up.  Flew in from Germany last night.  (United sucks, BTW).

Anyways.. that's what I was asking.  I was thinking perhaps multiple locations.  I would love to do a 'boat' day.  All Av owners using their Avs to get to the boat ramp sort of thing.  Did this with another club one time and it made for a good time.  Volleyball on the beach front.  Boats out shooting potato guns.  A redneck yacht club sort of thing.

The boat idea sounds AWESOME.
I think I'd say that I'm going to show up... and ACTUALLY show up!

Maybe with a boat, Home-Made if necessary.

There's talk in the NY/NJ threads about possibly doing something in either Lake George, or the Poconos.  There's plenty to do in both areas, and it's not too far for the MD/DC/DE area either!

Obviously I like the boat idea too.  Lake George is 400 miles from me, so that's a bit far.  But I'll keep it in mind.  What areas around MD-DC-DE would be good?  Not many freshwater places.

Let's brainstorm!  Also, who has a boat?

I tend to like Kent Narrows.

OK, here is a 'map' of Maryland boat ramps.  Mind you, many of these ramps are resevoirs and not meant for gas powered vessels.

http://mddnr.chesapeakebay.net/fish/state2.html

I'm not as familiar with DC, but do know there are boat ramps right in the heart of DC, near Reagan airport.  I think that could be cool to boat around DC and have a water front view.  I can't say I'm ever fond of DC traffic though.

I think any venue should have a nice park to park nice AVs.

What about Southern MD, Gulfstream?

BTW, shouldn't any MD area GTG have crabs involved?? Steamed crabs on the tailgate of a truck with a nice beer?? Ahhh!!!

C'mon y'all.. who else has ideas?

Oh, I can find a few places down here in SMD, but wasn't sure if you all wanted to travel down here.  We have lots of boat ramps, five wineries - with free wine tasting on weekends, and a cruise available between each winery (need designated drivers) several hotels where we could get good rates...  yeah, we could do it here, it's just a bit on the smaller scale, but a "quaint" old town area.  I'm up for it.  We just need to reserve the areas soon as that timeframe is really busy here when the hotels book up.  Wineries will take requests for specific times for group events  Thumbs up! and if we do a cruise between them I'm sure we could set that up as well.

Crab shacks?  Uhhhhhhh, yup.  Plenty of them here, and really good too.  Thumbs up! I know several places where we could buy bushels of crabs and cook our own during a tailgate party.

Best part about all this is it's local for me and I could set it all up.  We have a couple of other members in the area I could ask to help out.

I have no problem with southern MD.  I'm thinking of all possibilities.  That's why I mentioned it.  Put up some websites of places of interest.
