How can I find out what head unit should have been in my Avy? I won't pick up the truck until Friday. It's an 06 with 44000 miles. Buying it for 2500. Have to replace the carpet, all window motors, right front turn signal housing and the stereo. How can I find out what stereo it came with? I don't care about fancy systems anymore and would be just as happy with an oem.

Also, what's a good source for them? Other than ebay.

I have an OEM 6-disc from my '03 just laying around...

The only way I can think is to get a build sheet from your truck...  My dad works at a body shop and got me one before I bought mine...  It's a nice little document to have...

I'm in need of a OEM 6 CD for my 05.    I wonder if yours will fit.  Would you be interested in selling it?

An 05 won't work in an 03.  Ask me how I know.  In fact I have an spare 05 for sale.
It plugs in and can be programmed by the dealer for the truck but you get no sound.  Not sure why but If you can figure it out good on you.

Maybe we can work a three way.  I sell my 05 (that I bought from a member here) and then I buy your spare 03.  We all gain.  How much for the 03 please?

A 03 should work in a 05 unless you bought a Lux headunit, post the model number you have.

I think your response is to the guy selling the 03 HU.  I have an 05 HU that I got that does not work in the 03.  I was told that the 03/04 hu (the 6 cd bose units were different aqnd would only work in those years.  the 05 unit is GM part number 10359577

If it will work and you can help me it would be very much appreciated.
How can you tell if it is a LUX HU?

Nope all 03-06 Headunits are interchangable except the Lux headunits that came in Escalades and GMC Denalis. I did a search and that Headunit should work.

Do you have the bose speakers. Huh

Yes it is the Bose system.  Mine is an 03 NFE edition. I had it programmed by the dealer for my truck but it does not work. The screen lights up but cant' hear anything or adjust stations or sound.
If you have any help It would be very much appreciated.

Thanks already

Did the old Headunit work. Huh
You can start with checking the fuse in the under hood fuse box labelled AMP.

The old unit works except that it emits sqeels and other noises that a radio shop says will cost 500 to fix.  You can listen to the radio or the cd player but you hear from the right side speakers a low sqeel that I would associate to the old radios that did not have a suppressor on it and the pitch rose and fell with the engine speed.

Nope it is mine my bad.  The screen comes on It appears that the only thing that does not work is the sound.  You can change stations load cd's etc.  When you adjust the volume the display does not show that the volume is changing nor do you hear any sound.
I found one at a salvage yard from an 03 for 200 will probably pick it up and try it.

Thanks for the help.
