I just put on Monroe reflex, and to be quite honest I am not sure I like them.I don't know if there is a period at the beginning where they need to "break in" or not but my old worn out ones seemed to have been a nicer ride. mine seem very stiff.  hopefully more will chime in and give their opinion as well. good luck

I say go with some bilstein 5100s, nice ride and good for all road conditions, only brand I trust.

I agree with the 5100's.  We just put a pair in the front of my buddies 03 2500 dodge (yeah, i know...) and the ride is dramatically improved.  I'll be getting these after some performance mods.  Needless to say, I was really impressed.

KYB monomax, Bilstein HD's, or Edelbrock IAS, or any other type of monotube shock you can find..  To hell with Rancho's and all that twin tube junk.  (Sorry for my lack of subtlety)

I have the monroe reflex and like them a lot.  At first I wasn't sure as they seemed stiff, but I don't know if that was because the blistiens were shot.  Now I wouldn't trade them.  Have about 10K on them.

I have them and like them. They are stiffer than the stock Bilsteins were but not overly so. If you want to retain the cushy car-like stock ride, don't get them as they make the Av ride more like a truck or a slightly stiffly sprung sports car. I prefer the more controlled ride; a benefit is that there's much less of the big, sloppy body roll around turns than with the stock Bilsteins.

Update, I pulled my monroe's and they were both stuck and would not move up or down at all. They were froze down, so they were super simple to take off. I put KYB's on the front, and ordered the 9000xl's for the back and will have them on this weekend.

I had about 10K on my monroe's btw, but to each their own. Maybe I just got a bad set.

My stock Bilsteins were junk. I had a problem I thought was a tire that started at about 20K. I ultimately found out it was a front shock that was totally locked up. One of the rear shocks started leaking at 50K; that's what prompted me to replace mine. The Bilsteins that were on my 94 Sonoma were still like new at 96K when I sold it. I've seen way too many people who had issues with the OEM Bilsteins on the full size trucks so obviously the General cut some corners somewhere between 1994 & 2002.

The Monroes supposedly have a lifetime warranty so they should have replaced them for free but I guess you wouldn't have wanted them since you didn't like them anyway.

I have the Rancho RSX's and liked them at first because they were better than the blown factory Bilsteins.  But im getting sick of them, I feel every crack in the road, it seems like they don't move unless you run over a speed bump.

Got my 9000xl's on the rear and the adjustment idea is awesome. They really complement the KYB's on the front. I like this setup, especially w/the keys. Now I just have to replace my intake gasket and new gears and I think I'm set.

I've had the Reflex shocks on the front of my Z-66 for 3 years and like them.   They do stiffen the ride a bit but it corners better.

Are twin tube shocks not worth the time and money spent?

KYB's GR2 are relatively cheap.  I was going to get a set for the front but now I'm not sure.

Any opinions??
