Just because you got a new alternator doesn't mean you got a good one. It may have died after install. Some warranties let the repair station use certified remanufactured parts to save money. If it's still under the original GM coverage,  I 'm not sure if they would do that. If it's not the new alternator, then you got one hell of a loose connection or an intermittent ground problem. A bad voltage regulator will kill a battery in no time. These days, almost all alternators have the regulators built inside.  If one of the  diodes start shorting under load and it could either passes the AC into the circuit or shunt that portion of the AC cycle to ground.  Shunting to ground is normal on a regulator for an overvoltage condition, but not below 14 volts. If you only get these symptoms after it's heated up, you could have a bad brush or diode.

Might want to start a new thread in the electrical section and let the experts take a stab at it.

He is going back into the Chevy shop. Nothing wrong with the wiring in my after market stuff. Yes he is under warranty for 3 more years and it was a new alternator. If he comes home today broken still I will ask the forum. Thanks Tom.
