I think you better get it wet and dirty at least once the first month.  Good way to look for water leaks and as you probably know, you will see little things when you clean it that you might not ever notice otherwise.

Congrats on your purchase.   Man take that truck out and let it get dirty  you should take it out in the rain just to make sure its not leaking. A friend of mine just brought a 09 Hummer the first bad rain we had the windshield leaked.

Who doesn't want to drive a new veicle of ANY kind in ANY kind of weather???  I put the most miles on a new vehicle within the first 3-6 months.  I might go 10K in the first 3-6 months and only rack up a total of 12-18k a year from then on...sometimes as little as 10k a year.  Get it wet, man!!!  Hey...someone sneak ovet there and throw a bucket of wet, georgia red clay on it!!! Just for sh!ts and giggles!!!!

Hey...this "tell me I'm not alone" thread can open up some new doors...

"tell me I'm not alone"...if hunting is such a sport, why do you sit up in a tree wearing camo and deer scent cologne and shoot the deer when it walks by?  Why not carry a knife instead and jump down on the deer and stab it and slit it's throat...maybe just punch the thing until you beat it to death???  That would be some real sport!  Or, track it down and chase it on foot...see who gets tired first!  If you can out run the deer and still have the strength to break it's neck...you deserve the right to call it a "trophy".

Not trying to bash all you hunters...but "tell me I'm not alone".  Cover yourself up with real leaves and wait until the deer walks by and jump it!

I have friends that are hunters, and I'm not an activist or anything...I'm just NOT a hunter.  I have a lady-friend at work that goes around with her 20-something daughter and pees near the salt licks and tree stands.  I applaud her...  "tell me I'm not alone".

I got my first AV day before July 4, 2001 two week GM shutdown/model change started. Took it up north camping & canoeing down some two-tracks and put some nice brush stripes on her, sat on the new leather seats with wet swimming trunks, hauled firewood all in first 2 days  Cheesy

After I break my a-- detailing the AV, I sometimes leave it in the garage if it is raining the next day  Roll Eyes I figure after all that work I should get to drive it at least one day in nice weather before it gets dirty again  Cry

It's not only a new thing....got the Av washed today, moved it into the garage, and don't plan to drive it for the next few days 'cause it's probably gonna snow tonight/this weekend. I'll let faithful commuter pod Accord take the hit. But then, my Av is black which just increases the level of paranoia.

You're not alone heck I might be worse than you. I don't even like putting miles on mine. I've had my 09 Summit White for 2 weeks and put about 100 miles on her.

I have to use my own vehicle for work sometimes so, I kept my 01 Yukon instead of trading it in, I keep  the Yukon at the office  and drive it for work around town.

I only drive my Ava 5.5 miles too and from work every day and the kids to their games on the weekends.

I think I need  Help me!

Those short trips aren't good for the AV, it won't even reach operating temperature. Take her out on a nice long ride and she will be  love happier

I felt kinda bad about getting it dirty too.  The worst part was the muddy boots in the cab.  The exterior wasn't too bad.  But it was prety cold, pretty muddy and it was too tiring dragging the deer (even on a sled).

You're not alone.  I washed my AV all the time after I bought it, but since it's my transport vehicle I have to drive it to the airport to work.  I didn't have enough room in the garage for almost a year, so it sat in the weather all the time.  Now that it fits in the garage if I don't need to drive, I don't take it out.

Here's some advice though - get a claybar, then do a full polish and/or wax.  I knew mine was dirty, and didn't feel glass-like smooth, so I bought the entire Zaino kit and after two days of hard work  Shocked.  It cleans up much easier also.

Dude, get it wet!  You're gonna love driving the AV in nasty weather and not want to drive anything else.  Gotta get it dirty sometime...  I felt the same way when I first bought mine, but now I just wash it whenever it gets dirty.  It's not so bad.

Well I know where you're coming from as I've tried to keep my "new" purchases clean as long as possible but seems like everytime I've done recent pick-ups it's been in the pouring rain... But now anytime the Av gets all cleaned up it gets put away if the weather is bad or at least a few days...

Mine is bigboy he doesn't need to sit in a garage and hide from the elements, he likes to sit under the tree and growl at passing Ridgelines. Most of the time he will go weeks without a bath or basic grooming. But for some reason he likes sitting next to the yellow Ferrari.

Stop torturing yourself and  Drive! that bad boy already. On the day I picked mine up it was snowing so it got dirty no big deal. I just hate when the weather turns nasty after I busted my a-- detailing it.

I have a black AV also. Even when the weather is nice it seems to be a magnet for dust, pollen, etc.... But it does look good for about 5 minutes after I detail it  Big laughter with tears

Your Not Alone.

I have an 07 with no cladding ( Beating thanx chevy ) , Bermuda Blue with 20" polished rims.
Looks great, even better when clean and the sun is shining.

However... When I take the truck to the river and pull tundras and fords and dodges out of the mud...
The looks change from "aint that a purty truck" to "I wonder if his truck has a sister" The warm fuzzy feeling I get is well worth the time
I will spend at the local wash hosing off mud caked to the roofline.

At the car wash the looks go from "that dude is filthy" to "that dude has been having a blast and I wonder if his truck has a sister..."

Have fun with it, go get some mud mats (the big thick ribbed ones that hold lots of mud, dirt, water, snow, etc...)
And keep 2 snow brushes with you, one to clean your boots, the other to brush snow or mud from the windows.
