2002 Chevy Avalanche Z-71 4x4

I have a 2002 Chevy Avalanche Z-71 K1500, and when I use my heater, unless it's all the way on max. [82 degress with the red marker] it blows cold air.
When I "click" it onto the 82 degree max setting, it then lows hot air, at 80 degress it blows cold air.
I don't have the "dual" climite control, but I do have climate control with both the temp. settings and auto setting.
I have my settings on the fan on 3/4 high to full high speed, and my temp. setting on anywhere from 78 degrees to 80 degrees, with it blowing cold air.
It only blows hot air if I have it on the max 82 degree setting.
I can not figure this out to why this is doing so ?
Any ideas ?
My water temp. gauge is reading 200 to 225 degrees.
Thanks for the help,
Bobby.   banghead

I don't have a scanner.
I really hate to bring it to the Chevy dealer and have to pay $90.00 per hour for them to experiment on it.

Do you go to a local auto parts store.... AutoZone.... PepBoys... They can scan it for you. Or even go to walmart and pick up one for about $60.
