I'm currently looking at the 2007 and 2008 years. I feel that I can get good deals on each years. Of course the 2007 is about 2-3k less than the 2008. I've currently read that some people have had problems with the oil level becoming low in the 2007 models and this has been reoccuring problem where the dealership has been tough to work with when trying to solve the problem. I'm wanting to know if there is any validity to this in alot of the 2007 models or if these are just rare occurances? If this is a problem in the 2007 year was it eliminated in the 2008 year. Any advice or input would be helpful in my buying decision because I would definitly pay the 2-3k more if the 2008 don't have this problem. Otherwise I will just buy a 2007. Thanks!!

Mine is a 07 and yes it just started having the oil issue, but I would not worry about that to much. It used to be that we all would check our oil in anything we drove and at some point we would need to add oil. But now with lights and read outs that flash in our face it seems to alarm us more.

So with that said, I would buy an 07 again and again. And I believe the 08 has the same motor. Save your money and go with the 07, unless you get a great deal on an 08.

Good Luck!

Thanks that make me feel a little bit more at ease. I have found one great deal on an 08 so i still might go with that but there are definitely more options in the 2007 within my price range. Had you heard anything about the oil issue relating to using fully synthetic oil?

 Welcome! to the club chevyridinghigh!

I have an 08 3LT with less than 20K miles and love it.  No problems with oil consumption but there are several threads on here about that issue.  Sounds like you have been researching the site, so I would say continue looking through them for any other issues between the 07-08.

I ordered my AV and picked it up with about 2 miles on it.  Drove until 5K then switched to Mobil 1 synthetic.  No issues whatsoever.

Guess you need to ask yourself a few more questions before pulling the trigger besides oil:
What versions are you looking at?  LT, 2LT, 3LT or LTZ?  Need to compare apples to apples if you're narrowing it down to price.
How many miles on each?
Extras - sunroof, nav, leather, etc.
When was the 07 built?  I think some of the early 07's had issues other than oil that were fixed later in the run, but don't quote me on that.

Good luck on the choice.

ok so the extended warranty is a definite. which makes me feels more comfortable about the oil consumption issue if it is an occurance. getting all this input is so helpful in allowing me to make the best buying decision possible, because im not one of those guys who just has the money to drive a brand new AV off the lot.

Thats what we are here for is to help, even though I mostly joke around. Buy your Av and enjoy it, and go to all the local events you can.  Thumbs up!

I was trying to find low milage (and under warranty 07s) and 08s for a decent price. My goal was a LTZ. After researching several local Avys and checking ebay, I compared that to a new 09 LT (leather, roof, axle, etc, everything I wanted except memory seats) prices with rebates and found there to be only a little bit of cost difference.  I now own an 09 (with 6 speed) and feel the "extra" $2-3000 is well worth it. Actually it was less than an 08 LTZ with 19000 miles that I had found.
Just a thought.
