Hello all, I need to make a winch choice for my Reunel front bumper.  I read a post about a Westin T-max 12500 purchased at Summit Racing. Would anyone else have suggesting on  a 2500 Av?  Thanks!

Warn PowerPlant HD

All the benefits of a 12K winch, with a complete air compressor setup.  Reunel has the templates for the Powerplant and that is a sweeetttttt o' machine.

Costs almost as much as the bumper mind you... but you didn't say price was any object.   chevy

Second thought, what do you need the winch for??  If your gonna sink the 2500 so bad to need a winch you might require the brute strength of a hydraulic over the electric...  She's a heavy beast...

Warn 12k would be my recommendation..  and a second battery.  (no isolators or anything, just both in parallel.)

a 12k electric can pull a 7k rig just fine...  well, 8k in my case when my dually got stuck.

i'll add my .02,
hydraulic -pro's: if you're hardcore, will go ALL day, great pulling power, fairly light weight compared to BIG electric winches.  con's: cost, alot of extra install work, painfully slow, and if you want to use on a different vehicle you have to buy another install kit, only works when engine is running!!
electric - pro's: will run even if vehicle does'nt,easy to remove if you sell the av.
con's - you'll more than likely need electrical upgrades(bigger alt.& more batteries)
i've had both styles and prefer electrics, they're more common, parts are easier to get and there's more brands to choose from.depending on how much off-roading you plan i would stay consevative on size. you've already add 100's of lbs of dead weight to the front end and adding a 15,000lb winch does'nt help the life of you're front end suspension and steering parts. if you stay conservative to say 9-10,000lb winch, you'll save weight, less amp draw, and more reach(80ft of 7/16 cable on a 15,000lb vs 125-150ft of 5/16 cable on a 9,000lb) you can always double the line back to the av and 2x the pull power.if you're just looking to fill the hole in the bumper you can go to sams club or costco and buy a foreign made winch. i bought a 10,000lb one for my car hauler for less than $400.00, came on a winch cradle with all the power cables and quick connects for the front and rear of your vehicle, a pulley block and a stainless roller fairlead. it works just fine. a little overkill for a trailer but i can always put it in any receiver hitch and i could'nt have bought a name brand winch for less.with sams club or costco's warranties they'll keep replacing it if you burn it up!

Thanks for the info. Regarding pull power of the winch.  If my truck weights about 8K lbs, purchasing a 10K lb winch would probably be a better choice. An 8K winch would have to work at 100%.  Just a thought!

you can always double the line pull on a 8000lb to 16000lb, besides if you ask anyone who owns a winch, you spend more time pulling someone else out than yourself. better to stay conservative, a 1500lb winch puts a lot more stress pulling on your frame than a smaller winch that will stall.

Good info, can't decide on the Mile marker PE8000 and Champion 10K, $30 difference. I am trying to find a product review of the Champion.  MM has an excellent web site and reviews of comparable winches.

Interesting site on winches.

pretty much the same....
Mile Marker Winches: ISO Certification
If you’ve looked into Mile Marker Winches at all you know the company is headquartered in Florida with a Distribution Center in the state of Washington. However, the winches themselves are manufactured in China and this raises some concerns to some potential buyers. Not to worry, as Mile Marker is an ISO certified organization. What does that mean? ISO stands for International Organization for Standardization, an international set of quality manufacturing standards subcribed to by over 162 countries. ISO certification means the certified manufacturer follows these standards and is audited at least once a year. So if your concerned about Mile Marker’s China plant, rest assured that the ISO certification is a mark of a quality product, wherever it is made

Anyone know if a winch can be installed in the Reunel Front bumper after it is installed or would you have to remove the bumper?
Thanks

I believe that you would have to remove the bumper, as the winch goes behind the bumper.

I had called Reunel some time ago about the winches that would work with their bumper. MileMarker will not work. Warn will.
I personally liked MileMarker. I never had any issues with it on the Dodge and ProZap bumper that I had.

I had a 9K champion once, smoked that puppy quick

my boss replaced it with a 8K warn, I love it. I haven't recovered myself with it but with 240 feet of 3/8 blue steel rope , I have moved allot of stuff... up, down and along...hehe

Thanks all, decided not to go with a winch.  Had the truck for 8 years and havent needed one yet, plus it adds 100 lbs to the front end.
Cheers!
