03 Full Time DRL's and then scroll down to post #226
For the 02 under the hood: (my preference) FTDRLs New Post-underhood Mod ONLY and then scroll down to post #29.
For the 02 under the dash: Full Time DRLs scroll down to post #221 for a link to a members page that has good pics of how to do it.

Here ya go Poppies Baby...I'll give it to ya with pics!

Ygmn..see I told ya we should've made this a sticky thread!  Grin

I'm starting this thread to help out all of the members who like me got frustrated with trying to find the correct information and instructions to the Under Hood Full Time DRL mod.

If any of you are like me, if you can't find something with three or four clicks you forget it, but this is one of the coolest mods and its pretty easy. These instructions are compiled from different posts and are only intended for 2002 Avs.

1. To play it safe, disconnect the Black Ground cable from the battery.

2. Standing on the driver's side of the truck, Remove the black curved bracket that connects the fender to the body.

3. Remove the Electrical Center Plastic housing. First the top, then look at the sides of the housing and find the tabs which hold it down. Angle the housing and unhook it from the tabs, and lift it off. This should reveal the naked fuse box which is the contents of the Electrical Center.

4. On the fender side of the fuse box is a locking latch. Push this tab towards the fender and this should unlock the fuse box. Then unhook the tabs at either ends of the side facing the engine. The fuse box is now loose and ready to be turned over.

5. There are different colored sections on the underside of the fuse box; we'll be operating in the green area. It is bolted into the box and it must be unscrewed. Loosen and remove the green connection block. Remove the two blue locking clips on both sides of the green block.

6. On the far right row, there are several wires, locate the double royal blue wire. Remove this wire from its current position and drop it down one (1) hole. Now the right side should have a double green wire at the top, followed by a single red, a single blue, a double purple, then the space just vacated and the newly relocated double blue wires.

7. Relock the green block using the blue locks. Screw in the green block back into the fuse box.

8. Test to see if the mod works. Reattach the Black Ground cable to the battery, and turn the key to the on position. (You don't have to start the truck. The DRLs should come on when the truck is in Park.

9. When everything works as you like it, lock in the fuse box, replace the cover and the top. Reattach the black curved bracket.

10. Sit back and enjoy the sense of accomplishment.

Use these pictures to aid in the modification. The first pic is of steps 1-4. The second pic shows the location of the double blue wires in the green connection block. This picture shows a red wire in the slot where we have placed the blue wires. The red wire is XRover's switch mod. For directions on the DRL on/off Switch, PM XRover.

Is it a must to disconnect the ground / blk cable to the battery when switching the wires for the DRL's? Have gotten the fuse box off and ready to turn over to look at the 'green' box to look at wires.... do I need to disconnect the ground wire before doing anything yet? I don't want to if I don't have to, but I also don't want to shock myself or hurt my AV.     Smiley

Yes Disconnect the Battery GROUND. It is a Must, You could end up in a very bad way leaving it connected.  PM Sands611 and ask him what happened when he did his.

Okay... battery cable off.... one more question...
How do you switch the wires? Do you just pull them out by hand and put in the one below it? Problem is, I can't get it to pull out and I don't want to pull so hard I break something. Once I do get it out, do I just put it in the correct place by hand also, or use a tool?

You have to remove the blue retainer.  Then there is a little tab on the connector itself.  I used a very little screwdriver to get it out.  Then you just push it in the correct hole and it will "snap" in.   This picture will give you an idea where the tab is for the connector.
(the pictures are ment as representations only, not as the actual part you are working on)

I received my green bulbs from euroeffects.com.  I told my two boys not a word to Mom.

I then took my bulbs out to the garage.  Came back in turned on the computer to this site
and ran out to the garage and opened my bulb package making sure all was there.  Ok I then went to the manual on my computer because I don't have mine (dealer is supposed to get 1 for me).  and found out how to change the DRL bulbs.  Went back to garage and changed right side OK.  Left side would not turn easily and I broke part of the white casing around the lip.  This will probably cause water condensation now.  Darn.  anyway I changed out the 4157 white bulbs with my eurodesign 3157 greens.  Then said what the heck I still got 1/2 hour before the wifey gets home so I took off the bar got a little socket to take off the black battery terminal.  Oh shoot feels stripped.  Get the cresent nope it really is stripped.  get the little wrench.  Nope totally stripped get the Lock Jaws  OK no problem.  take off top to fuses.  Unhook left side unhook right sid lift up.  what the ....Run in the house to this thread.  Oh OK take off the green block,  cool.  get all my nut drivers nothing fits.. get all my sockets finally find the right one.  take out the little pretty blue clips.  No Prob.  Run in house to read next iinstructions.  "stick small screwdriver in slot to unhook clip"  Ok spen 10 minutes looking for a itty bitty driver. just cross heads.   Get small needle nose.  It comes out.  hope I never have to use that receptical again.  Lower one space insert.  Put blue things back in green thing.  Put green thing back in bottom of big black thing.  Close big black thing.  jump in AVY turn key on nothing.  Try again, nothing.  Oh yeah dumb a$$ get out get Lock jaws hook up black terminal to battery.  Get in AVY turn key to run beautiful green lights on wall.  So cool. turn off key check watch 5 minutes till wifey gets home from work.  quickly make sure all is tight.  Put on cross bar.  Put away tools.  Close and hide box from eurodesign.  Tell Boys not a word go in house and start the T-bones in the snowy BBQ out back.

And That is my story.  Tonight BACK UP BULBS to GREEN  And Pictures.

This is my first Mod.

Decided that now that I'm an admin, I'd better get crackin' on some of these mods...

Took 10 minutes thanks to chad2fw's post.  I still had all my tools laying out from my last project. Smiley  But I did have to run inside twice to read what to do next!

Awesome and easy!
