ok so its rainy outside and i just decided to do this mod.  finally! but i have already come across one problem.  i dont know how to disconnect my negative battery lead.  is that the wire directly connected to the negative bolt on the battery?  if so, do you have to unbolt it off? cause its on tight.  also if so, why is it still on in the other pictures?  and lastly, is it neccessary or just a precaution?  can i still do th mod as long as im careful with the battery connected? thanks.

ps - sorry for the stupid questions, im just a newb Embarrassed

Reading sometimes helps, don't worry, I've been known to jump the gun and freak out when all I really need to do is take a chill and read or count to 100.  Great work, I STILL haven't done this so big  love love to ya!!

Just completed my newest mods! They look great. I did the amber DRL's and also the FTDRL's while i was at it. Pretty simple took 30 min but thats only because i had the same problem as AVZ71 and that i couldnt get the double blue wires out. The wires even with the safety clips in are held in by a one way plastic clip inside the hole i just got a very small crewdriver(from a glasses repair kit) banghead and used that to pull the tab back and pull the wire out. Piece of cake haha. Any suggestion what my next cheap mod should be?

Heres what it looks like...

I got it fixed even though no one really replied. banghead When taking the wires out i bent the metal tab that makes connection on the underside of the electrical box bent it back and had been perfect ever since.

were you trying to do this, or did it just happen?

Well, I put the ignition in the run position, the position before starting the engine, then pushed the dome light button 4x.  I guess that did it, but I didn't hear a confirmation that it took.

When I tested it didn't go on when I released the brake, which is what I want.  Then I shut off the engine then tried again, but it looks like the light when on when I started the engine and released the parking brake.

Edit - I just read the manual in that last step, it's supposed to do that.  How do I make it permanant?

Dude, I tried this mod...no worky!!.    Then I tapped the fuse and duh I feel so stupid.  Guess I kncoked the fuse loose.  THanks for the research!  Took me 15 min.   NOw just have to get the ambers installed.

I'm starting this thread to help out all of the members who like me got frustrated with trying to find the correct information and instructions to the Under Hood Full Time DRL mod.

If any of you are like me, if you can't find something with three or four clicks you forget it, but this is one of the coolest mods and its pretty easy. These instructions are compiled from different posts and are only intended for 2002 Avs.

1. To play it safe, disconnect the Black Ground cable from the battery.

2. Standing on the driver's side of the truck, Remove the black curved bracket that connects the fender to the body.

3. Remove the Electrical Center Plastic housing. First the top, then look at the sides of the housing and find the tabs which hold it down. Angle the housing and unhook it from the tabs, and lift it off. This should reveal the naked fuse box which is the contents of the Electrical Center.

4. On the fender side of the fuse box is a locking latch. Push this tab towards the fender and this should unlock the fuse box. Then unhook the tabs at either ends of the side facing the engine. The fuse box is now loose and ready to be turned over.

5. There are different colored sections on the underside of the fuse box; we'll be operating in the green area. It is bolted into the box and it must be unscrewed. Loosen and remove the green connection block. Remove the two blue locking clips on both sides of the green block.

6. On the far right row, there are several wires, locate the double royal blue wire. Remove this wire from its current position and drop it down one (1) hole. Now the right side should have a double green wire at the top, followed by a single red, a single blue, a double purple, then the space just vacated and the newly relocated double blue wires.

7. Relock the green block using the blue locks. Screw in the green block back into the fuse box.

8. Test to see if the mod works. Reattach the Black Ground cable to the battery, and turn the key to the on position. (You don't have to start the truck. The DRLs should come on when the truck is in Park.

9. When everything works as you like it, lock in the fuse box, replace the cover and the top. Reattach the black curved bracket.

10. Sit back and enjoy the sense of accomplishment.

Use these pictures to aid in the modification. The first pic is of steps 1-4. The second pic shows the location of the double blue wires in the green connection block. This picture shows a red wire in the slot where we have placed the blue wires. The red wire is XRover's switch mod. For directions on the DRL on/off Switch, PM XRover.
