I use McGuire's NXT and I am thoroughly impressed with the results.

After reading the Autoint report, I will not go back to using petroleum based dressings on my plastic such as the ones found in this thread:

http://www.chevyavalanchefanclub.com/cafcna/index.php?board=111;action=display;threadid=19954;start=msg312034#msg312034

I found out a few facts about PDMS.  PDMS should be very safe to use on cladding, because it is commonly used in detergents, shampoos, conditioners, and cosmetics.  Interestingly enough it's also used in silicone breast implants.

I bought a bottle of good ol Armor All Original and applied it about two weeks ago.  AAO should be in this thread because it is a water based product which uses PDMS, just like 303.  Upon reading the MSDS for AAO, I found it contains 15-25% PDMS.  I'm not sure how this stacks up to the other product's percentages.  According to roadfly.org's tests, AAO lasted longer than most products, including 303.  So I'd have to say that it contains at least an adequate amount, if not more than most.

When I first applied the AAO, my cladding was in fairly good shape, but it was at the point at which I normally reapply a protectant (previous protectant used was NXT).  After a good wash and dry, I put on one coat only by spraying it on a MF towel and then rubbing the plastic.  After about 20 mins or so I came back and found the plastic had completely absorbed the AAO, so there was nothing left to buff off.  So far since application it's rained a few times and been washed once.  Here is my observations after 2 weeks:
1) It looks at least as good, if not better, than NXT or Eagle 1 Wet does after 2 weeks.  When 1st applied AAO leaves a satin finish as opposed to Eagle 1 Wet's glossy finish.  I used to like the gloss finish better, but now I think I prefer a satin finish.  It gives it a clean, "like new" appearance, without standing out too much.
2) It does not bead water quite as well as petroleum based dressings, but still does a good job of repelling water.
3) Does not seem to attract dust nearly as much as petroleum based dressings.

Here are some advantages I've found to AAO:
1) It's cheaper that just about anything.  16oz costs about $4, compared to about $12 for 303.
2) More widely available than just about anything.
3) Same basic ingredients as more expensive products.
4) Lasts at least as long as anything I've used, so it's a good value.
5) Leaves a satin finish, which I now prefer for the cladding and have always prefered on interior plastic.
6) Does not cause plastic running boards to get slick which is a huge problem with petroleum based products.

After the last rain, I washed my Av and forgot to check and see if any of the AAO had ran down the sides of my paint.  If any of it did, I didn't notice when I washed it (I washed it by hand) and if any did it apparently wasn't hard to wash off.

New Product for Plastic Protection

The product is called SONÜS TOTAL ECLIPSE.  I use quite a few Sonüs products.  The quality of their products is outstanding.  The link is for Autopia.  For those that have never heard of them, they are an outstanding place to order from.  It is very common for them to throw in freebies on large orders and if there's ever a problem with your order, just email them and they fix the problem immediately.

If anyone orders any of this, I suggest ordering the refill bottle ($1 cheaper) and filling your own bottles.  Sonüs makes great stuff, but the ergonomics of their bottles suck.

I just picked up the 303 protectant at the Boat and Marine shop today.  This stuff works great!

Just wanted to say it brought my cladding back to life.  I hope it lasts. banghead

What is the status with the Eagle 1 Protectant?  I was able to load up on this about 16 or 18 months ago when the local yokel K-Mart was closing the store.  Got it for 60% off and bought every darn bottle in the place, but I'm supply is starting to run out.  Haven't seen it, but have seen other Eagle 1 products.  Have always been a big advocate of their goods.

Eagle 1 Protectant used to be sold as Eagle 1 Tire Shine Satin Finish.  It was hard to find then also.  You can order it directly from Eagle One.

Best product for what?

for tires..any of the ones shown in first post are fine...they all work about the same they just have different prices...this stuff works on interior parts as well....

For cladding see the FUTURE FLOOR wax thread as it is the stuff to use IMO

I just tried 303 and NXT today....we tested it on a small section of my wife's black 3000 GT....needless to say, ended up doing the whole car....then we did the SLK....the words WOW come to mind.  I have tried just about everything and the NXT is simply the best I have ever used for a shine.  Perhaps tomorrow, I will get to my new Av.

Also used the 303 on the AV....actually looks better than new and it is new!!  Thanks for a great thread and even better advice!!

I have order 303 Protectant from a Mobile Products company.  They have many different products from the complete Sprayway line (Best Glass Cleaner) to 303 Protectant.  Tell them Greg Cornett referred so they know to take care of you!

I have used 303 on my 03 (darker) cladding for some time, but lately the cladding is fading, 303 brings darker color back, but soon fades again.

Is there something that will dye the darkness back in the cladding?

GATORBACK

O/K, but is this stuff greasey?  By the way, just tried a spot of something I have had in my garage for about 10 years, Turtle Wax product called Black Chrome.  It is a dark gray liquid, looks real nice and not greasey, think I will try a spot and see how it looks after a week or so.

Has anyone ever tried Turtle Wax Black Chrome, is it even sold anymore?
