My 03 AV died going home, it started back up and i was able to drive it home. The next day it died again just a block away from my house. The next day going to work it died three times then it wouldn't start back up again. I had to get it towed home. I talked to some buddies and they all say pretty much its my fuel pump. I listened for the sound of the pump near the gas hole. Nothing. From just this description is it really my fuel pump and if it is where is it located and how hard is it to replace by myself? Any help is appriciated.

It's not too bad if you make an access panel to it: http://www.chevyavalanchefanclub.com/cafcna/index.php/topic,78278.msg1202531.html#msg1202531

Makes a two hour job about 15 minutes.

My 2002 2500 8.1 did the same thing last week, right in the middle of an intersection, and had to be towed to the dealer. Fuel pump was shot at 89K miles, and cost me $1207.00 Damned near cried, there went my 2010 beer allowance  Sad
