I'm going to upgrade my system to the touchscreen navigation soon and I wanted to get some information on running the VSS.  I've read through PART 1 and PART 2 and I've gathered that this comes from behind the instrument cluster, but does anyone have any information on where exactly it is, what color, how to tap into it, etc...  Maybe it is obvious once you have the instument cluster out, but I'm in Brazil right now and I can't exactly go take a look.  I may only have a few days back home to do the installation before I have to come back to Brazil so I want to make sure that I have all of the information I need before hand.  If any of you guys can help me out, I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks a lot.

Brad-- thats great to hear that everything worked out perfectly!!! It seems as if we now have yet another person who can vouch for the incredible sound difference between the LUX amp and Premium amp. Any problems with the CDX or anything? Im assuming all went well with the VSS too. A quick check to see if the TNR is recieving a VSS signal is to try to program a destination while you are driving. It should not allow you to program a destination while you are driving. (one handy feature is that you can program where your home is into it and it then puts a little shortcut icon with a house picture on it. Then if you want to get back to your house from anywhere, just touch that icon. This, luckilly, DOES work when you are driving.) If having the features locked out while moving really becomes a pain, you can add a simple inline toggle switch in the TNR's VSS wire. Then you can temporarrily "turn off" the VSS to program your destination. You'll be very happy with the whole system. Even though my truck is completely stock (with the exception of the TNR/lux amp I added) I can safely say it is/will be the BEST mod ever!

Also, all the thanks in the world must be extended to the pioneers of this endeavour; Sperry and Pbuilder. The documents I sent would not exist without those two amazing guys!! Grin

jus10r,

There's pictorials of that in some earlier posts in this topic. Apparently you missed it..

HU Connector 2 Graphic

VSS Pictorial, start here

The pictorial you see is of an Escalade ESV. The cluster part would appear the same but only the later non-lux harnesses will have the VSS wire on the radio C2:-"E".

To double check, if you DO see that wire on "E", use an ohmmeter as he did.

If not, you'll neet a terminal pin and a piece of wire 1 to 2' should be long enough and run it between those cluster and HU connectors directly.

Hope that helps!

And, BTW, to the site!

Houston, we have a problem~

Guys,

My cdx doesn't seem to want to play out of the passenger side speakers.  The am/fm work as expected.  So, I guess that leaves me with a bad connection on one of the six cdx wires.  Which one?  Can someone help?  I have a diagram that I used for the install but it doesn't say which wires represent what.  I'm going to scour the thread to find one, but if someone reads and can provide guidance, I would appreciate it.
