Ft. Differential Shield Replacement (03 Referenced)

Removal Procedure

   1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.


 
   2. Remove the front differential carrier shield bolts.
   3. Remove the front differential carrier shield.

Installation Procedure


 
   1. Install the front differential carrier shield.

      Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

   2. Install the front differential carrier shield bolts.

      Tighten

      Tighten the front differential carrier shield bolts to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).
   3. Lower the vehicle.

Engine Underside Protection Shield Replacement

Removal Procedure


 
   1. Remove the frame to the shield bolts.
   2. Remove the shield from the vehicle. 15 Series is shown, 25 Series is similar.

Installation Procedure

   1. Install the shield to the vehicle. 15 Series is shown, 25 Series is similar.



      Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure.    2. Install the shield to frame bolts.

      Tighten

      Tighten the bolts to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

Trailer Hitch Frame Replacement

Removal Procedure


 
   1. Disconnect the trailer wiring harness.


 
   2. Remove the hitch platform bolts from the frame rails and the rear bumper.
   3. Remove the hitch platform from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

   1. Position the hitch platform to the vehicle.


 
      Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

   2. Install the platform hitch bolts to the frame rails and the rear bumper.

      Tighten
      Tighten the bolts to 125 N·m (92 lb ft).


 
   3. Connect the trailer wiring harness.
