First What year AVA?

Second just ground out the Green wire.

The VSS signal tap is at the cluster plug on the AVA depends on what year it is as for the color and pin placement.

So the VSS Sensor is actually the AVA its self.

samhouse thanks for your reply, 2006 avalanche , the navigation unit has the green wire which is the parking brake sensor which i will ground yes, but the white wire is also supposed to have this small diode which if you remove, the instructions say will cause a malfunction on your vehicle, and this is the piece i am missing,  thanks.

Best thing is to go to kenwoods Web site and find a certified Service center in your area.

I had a signal issue with mt kvt-dvd915 when installing and after a long drawn out repair with the Wholesaler. And $$$.

I took it to a local service center and it was fixed in 1 day and no charge!  Best of luck.

What model Nav unit do you have?  I don't have the VSS wire hooked up on mine - just the red, yellow, black, and green wires.  And the main harness connection.

Duh...   I should read the topics more often!   LOL

Mine is the KNA-G510, but doesn't have a VSS wire on the NAV unit.  It does have one on the PAC adapter I had to buy to make my HU compatible with my AV, but I just taped it off.

My understanding is that the VSS is used to calculate "arrival time" if your NAV unit ever loses the GPS connection (to the satellites).
