I was gonna get a dealer modded Avalanche that they called an SS rampage, they did hood striping, calipers, custom interior, SS badges, and they could soup up the engine but I wouldn't have had that done, but the dealer was ripping us off so we went to another dealer got a better price and have to find some placeelse to do the work. They didn't have an SS rampag eon the lot, but I saw two tahoes that they did and they looked great

I think im getting a new hood. Oh and the grille inserts, i think im changing the color to black chrome. Those are brushed aluminum.

I would go with the Ghost flames on the hood myself.

The hard part is when ordering quality decals. You never know what you going to get. Those decals on the hood arfe vinyl and in good shape after 1 1/2 years on it. Too bad i removed them. Now the search continues.

I am biased when it comes to the SS emblem.  I am also a proud owner of a 2000 Camaro SS. So I think that SS should be used sparingly.  I would be against using the SS concept in the AV. It is bad enough that there is an SSR truck.  After all, we don't want the SS concept to lose its worth.  This is my story and I am sticking to it.

Would it be OK for this AV to use the "SS" emblem, notice the car that he races?

BB,

I agree with you!  Keep the SS on the performance sports cars GM makes.  There is nothing more anti-SS in my book than a 6000 pound monster AV cladded, WBH, GMT800, GMT900.  Whats next a SS H2?  perhaps a SS-TopKick?

Blue,

When you say "beat"  towing capacity?  weight?  seating capacity?  fuel tank capacity? the AV can beat the Camaro SS in a few of those categories Smiley  I dont like SS being used on the Silverado or any other Chevy truck.  Optional performance truck packages are cool, but the SS label has a new water down meaning than it did back in 1961, dont think that does any good.

"Some of the better-known models to bear the SS badge include the Camaro, Chevelle, El Camino, Impala, and Nova. Originally introduced in 1961 as an appearance package for the Impala, it became a high-performance package in 1966."

"Until the Impala SS was brought back in 1994, the Super Sport package was only available on two-door passenger cars. Since then, however, the SS package has been used on a variety of GM vehicles, including pickup trucks, four-door sedans, and front wheel drive cars." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Sport

"pickup trucks, four-door sedans, and front wheel drive cars"  OH MY!  Maybe just Maybe Wagoner, & Lutz should be more concerned with the Chevy SS label being slapped half-assed on pickup trucks, four-door sedans, and front wheel drive cars and less concerned with cladding on the Chevy Avalanche?

A good start for future SS models though.
"GM's new Zeta platform will be used for the forthcoming Chevrolet Camaro, Monte Carlo, Impala, Pontiac GTO, and a Buick sedan."

This

Considering GM has closed their performance operations-it's not likely they will ever build one that is anything more than a bunch of badges anyway.

It's almost better that they haven't IMO, owners have built some excellent SS concepts-some are far better than Chevy would have produced.

They have done the same with the Z71 badging. It use to be used for the Offroad package. You would get a skid plate package, towing package and better gearing. Now it is just another decal. I am in total agreement that the SS should remain as it was intended as was the RS Camaro back in the 60's. Or the Olds 442, back then those had meaning. Today they are just appearance packages.

There is a guy driving around Jacksonville, Florida with a red avalanche with SS on the tailgate and on the sides after the Avalanche emblem.  Dual exhaust!!!  it looks dang near factory installed.  When i see him again, i will photo and post so everyone can see it.  The rear bumper is red like the vehicle, but surrounded by black.

I had a good idea for GM.

Make an Avalanche SS using the 2wd Platform with WBH. Insert a 500hp LS7. Run 22 all the way aroung. Mount a rear spoiler to the back cover. The reason you ave to use a WBH is because or Areo.

my second idea is since they are talking about discontinuing the cladding. is to make an Avalanche Calssic. This would be a cladded Av either with the old body style or the new body style. GM would be able to charge more for them to make up for the extra cost of the cladding. I think this would be a smart thing to do for those of us that would not be caught dead in a WBH.

They did this with the Silverado.  You can still get a new 1500HD (no longer a regular 1500HD), it is called a Silverado Classic 1500HD.
