Finally did the four diode mod on my 2003, and I put in the ambers... only took me six years to get around to it.  Great instructions, I've got two friends planning to do it now.

Thanks for putting together such a great .pdf of this mod.   You rock!

Just got back from Radio Shack!
Thanks for this post!  I have  been interested in this for years, but not inclined to mess around with it.  This looks like a nice clean approach.
I'll post when done!

As an added step, since I failed inspection because my fogs came on with the high-beams, I added a switch to "turn off" the Fogs-On-High part of the MOD.

Here's what I did:

From page 6 of the PDF file (http://www.chevyavalanchefanclub.com/coppermine/albums/userpics/25638/ftdrlnstall.pdf), I disconnected the 3 diodes from the 85 line on the Hi-Beam relay, and soldered a short wire to the end of all 3 of these.

Then I took another wire and put it in the 85 line of the relay, where the 3 diodes used to be and replaced the relay.

I then ran the other end of both wires to a push-button switch that I mounted in the "lip" of the fusebox, and I leave this in the "On" position to keep my FTDRL's, and when I go in for inspection, I hit the switch to turn them "off" and pass inspection.

Once inspection is passed, I turn the switch back on...

done in 15mins...too cool.
I have not put the 5th one in yet, but probably will.
I take it that this setup negates the fog light switch in the dash?...or did I do something wrong?

thanks again.  this was soooooo easy and awesome!

No, you can still use the foglight switch.  The reason for the diodes versus wires is so your highbeams don't go on when you use the foglight switch

I need to double check, but all lights were on after all 4 diodes were in.

Check also to make sure all 4 corners of the fog relay are in the socket all the way.

lol...my bad.... banghead

it helps to turn the key on to test the fog light switch...

the headlight switch will work without the key in, so I was doing the same thing for the frogger switch.

all is right in the world.   Thumbs up!

I finished this mod today. Wonderful write up, great pictures. Could just about go off the pictures alone... Looks really good...                   But now that i'm done, I gotta question. I did the 4 diodes, not the 5th because I still selectively use my fogs on low.   I notice when the headlights are on the DRL's and parking lamps are on( I have ambers in both) as they should be with this mod, however, if I manually put my light switch in the middle postion to run the parking lights only the DRL's turn off. Is there a way to wire it up to when I manually turn my parking lights on the DRL's stay on as well(no highs/lows/fogs) Just 4 amber bulbs across?   Thanks, and I hope what I was trying to ask/explain made sense...

You can try adding another diode from the parking lamp relay (85) to the DRL relay (same place that the Lo-beam connects to).

Yep, that is the one time the DRLs are not on. You can jump it with another diode, but the relays are not close in proximity. So, if you do throw in another diode you will need to lengthen it with some additional wire and heat shrink it.
