hey woof ya hit the nail on the head and i have said it before How many av owners try to make a ext out their avs. swaping as many parts as they can buy along the way spending the same if not more in the long run. As a former 02 av owner i have been there and learned from my mistake. There is nothing wrong with adding mods to any vehicle and some like to personalize their av ,but if your going to try and make a av into a ext why not just buy the ext as you said it is cheaper and the dollar value is true. I am buying the new 07 riptide blue and should be in in 2weeks. I did drive both as i said before and there are noticeable differences in acceleration handling and ride along with more refined interior. Chevys options in the 07 were in the 03 EXT with the exception of a rear cam. I feel the price is right on the money for chevy because i paid 54,000 for that in 03 on the ext. but its like everything else ya wanna play its going to cost ya to where the name plate as well as having more luxry more power and a piece of mind ya do not need to add anything to it. Oh and 1 more thing Cadillac service pick you up drop you off and ur always in a cadillac when ur vehicle is in for service. For the extra money its worth it if you can afford it.

I like the EXT.  I was considering one over the av but the lack of 4wd was a deal killer for me.

My opinion on the EXT is that unless you are looking for an image maker, it really doesn't make sense to buy one from a value standpoint. Especially with the new GMT900 version. Now that Chevy offers the 6.0L engine with nav/camera/heated/cooled seats, buying an EXT only gives you a few extra options- 6.2L, AWD, etc.

For me it isn't a matter of not being able to afford an EXT or an AV.. The AV is a much better value. Plus, like others said, it is available with 4WD instead of AWD, which is a major plus.

The only thing that kept me from an EXT was AWD vs 4X4. I spend 99% of my road time in 2-hi, even up here in MN. Just never cared for full-time AWD...
