"LT's" are gone from rear pillars and "Avalanche" is off the tailgate.  Will tackle the door "GM Avalanche's" from the front doors another day.  Here are some pics so I don't get "Boo'd"!

All of mine are gone as well.  Looks much better, IMHO.

I have to say though, if you're going to do this, please just use some fishing line, string, etc. to remove the old letters.   Looking at the paint can opener to do it on a new truck, well  Shocked Shocked

It worked great Charlie.  It never touches the paint, the tool is the perfect shape and allows the correct angle.  I had to pull the edge of the letter out a bit with my fingernail.  Then slide the tip in and pull straight out, popped right off!

Got lucky.  I'd probably destroy the paint.  Everytime I see your AV makes me want to trade in my 05.  banghead

Thank You for the compliment.  So why haven't you taken the plunge?  Oh yeah, if you don't mind, enlighten me...what exactly is a "tango"?

Um...I have an 05 and owe a lot!!  Cant flip into an 07  maybe an 08 we'll see.

Tango:  Slang for "T"errorist

Military uses phonetic alphabet, "T" is "Tango", Rather then saying "Terrorist" or refering to any "hostile" Tango is sometimes used.  It can also refer to a mobile radio operator   ie  "Tango Chaser"  Terrorist Chaser

"I'd rather be whackin tango's"  I'd rather be killin terrorist  (my avatar)

Or I'd rather chase hot female Tango Dancers.  Either way works for me!  Big laughter with tears

I just started to debadge the tailgate on my black 07. The chrome letters came off easy enough, but how do you remove the double sided tape that remains on the truck?

Just bought a 2007 Red LTZ today. I plan on debadging it tomorrow, if I have the time. I do have one question though. How is the rear bowtie attached? I would like to remove it too.

It's attached with doublesided tape, but if you take it off, there will be two holes in the tailgate where the guiding pins on the bowtie were in.

Well, let the debadging begin. Took off the LTZ today. I didn't have time to get the others, but there is always tomorrow. Also decided to do some interior dash panel switching. We just bought my wife a certified 2008 2wd Suburban Z71. My AV had the faux burl wood dash panels. Her's had the faux brushed aluminum. They are all interchangable except for the drivers door controls. Her's doesn't have the power fold back mirrors, and mine does. So let the hunt begin. I need to find an all controls, faux brushed aluminum panel for my LTZ, and a faux burl wood, without the fold in mirror controls, panel for her LT2 Suburban. Love the look of the brushed aluminum in my red/blk AV.

Well, it's done time to finally get some pics. of the new AV on the site. Just a note to those wanting to debadge. The leftover adhesive is a pain to get off unless you have the right tool. One of my P&B guys led me to an eraser wheel tha I think is put out by 3M. It can be attached to any cordless drill, and will remove the leftovers in no time. You do need to be sure you don't use a drill that is to fast. I think it recommends less than 4,000 RPMs. It only took a few minutes to do each set. By the way, thanks whoever it was who suggested using fishing line to remove the letters intially. It really made for a safe removal.

Here are some more pics. One before and one after. The eraser wheel will not hurt the paint as long as you don't run it to fast. It doesn't take much to get the gunk off.

That looks good. I am planning on doing mine soon.
Get one of the eraser wheels. It makes it so much easier to remove the foam double sided tape they use. Also I recommend using Meguiar's Cleaner Wax. It does a great job of pulling off the rest of the gunk and film that is left behind. You will have to use a little elbow grease, but it is worth it.

Thanks for the tip. I will pick one up. I know it killed me trying to do that when I did this to the Blazer I had before the Avalanche. I have used the Meguiar's before so I have some in the garage.

You will need to go by a place that carries P&B supplies. They run about $25 if I remember right, but it is worth it.

thanks to all of you for giving me the courage to tackle my 07 after 11 months of debating. Was afraid I would mess it up badly. After reading this, I figured what the heck - so I started small with the Flex-fuel badge on the tailgate. A little heat from a hair dryer and some fishing line - came off like butter! No problems.
Will begin the rest of  the work this weekend.
thx again for the tips!
 Thumbs up!

I'm guessing you mean that the ball mount is stuck inside the receiver?
Your description is rather lacking.
If my guess is right, soak the receiver tube from both ends with something like PB Blaster or other penetrating lube, and hammer at the ball mount SIDEWAYS a bit, not foreward and aft, break the grip of the rust.

I'm planning on doing this as soon as the weather warms up a bit.

Does anyone know what is behind the door moldings? Any holes? I think they need to go too.

Ok everyone. I do realize that this isn't an AV, but I wanted to show the new debadged look of my wifes 2008 Suburban Z71. I did leave the Z71 emblem. I thought it looked perfect where it was.

Is anybody here willing to part with a set of the chrome "AVALANCHE" lettering? I want to paint some (at least try to) and put them on my speaker box. Just to dress it up a little bit.

I like the look of the debadged trucks i'm planing on taking it a step further and taking off the side moldings too, since they are fading on an 07 and GM doesn't want to help replace them on a truck with 40K. So i'll make them disappear i'll post pics when it done for opinions.
