Hi guys, first let me fess up, I don't have an Avalanche, although my good friend has a 2007 AV LT3 in the Metallic Orange color :-).  Instead, we have a 2007 Suburban LT1 in Bermuda Blue.   We love it!

Here's my question.  I have a Garmin StreetPilot i5 (great GPS by the way) that I want to hard wire into the Suburban.  I formerly had it wired into our 2004 Tahoe Z71 and in that vehicle I had used an "add-a-circuit" fuse doubler to tap into the rear wiper fuse for hot power that was switched on and off with the ignition switch.  It did not have retained power after shutting off the vehicle.

I did the same thing with the Suburban.  But lo and behold, turns out that circuit is hot all the time.  And so I tried a few other fuses and they all were hot all the time.  I want switched power so the GPS will turn itself on and off automatically as I turn the vehicle on and off.  All the power ports in the vehicle are always hot.

Do the 2007's have any fuses that are switched off with the ignition?  One with retained accessory power after shutoff would be fine.

I can't imagine I'm the only one that's faced this, but the search function didn't find it for me.   Of course, I know the Avalanche doesn't have a rear wiper, but maybe there's another fuse that would work.

Thanks for the help, guys.

This is exactly what I was hoping for.  Looks perfect for what I want to do.  Now I just need to find some properly sized wire terminators to attach to those terminals and I'll be in business.

Thanks very much to gm_geek for taking the time and effort to post this.

I'm looking for the same sort of thing on a 2005 model.  My distribution box looks quite a bit different

We also have a Suburban 2007 and we were glad to find your posting.
We are trying to install headrest dvd player/monitors.
In our case we also have available the outlet just above the outlet you pointed to, in your picture.
However, the pin that you pointed to be 12V constant is not there and instead there is another pin next to the ground pin.

Questions:
1.    Will the 12V ignition pin be located in the same position in both outlets?
2.   Where do you advise to plug in for the case of the headrest dvdplayer/monitors?  In the one you ponited in your picture or in the one above I also have free but slightly different?  There are only 2 cables in the harness, 1 red and 1 black.

Thank you in advance

I wired mine up today. I got an 12v outlet from Radioshack and wired it to the ignition connection. I have the outlet under the stereo so I can plug the GPS into that and I didn't have to cut the plug off the GPS. Now I might add another too! Very easy to do.

Covered this in the AV Park Asist thread.  About half way down in that thread is a link to download electrical manuals for that distribution block, or any fuse panel or wiring diagram on the vehicle.  Good thread....
