Is there any way to bypass the thing where if you're not in park, the dvd wont play in the center counsel for the 2007 Avalanche?

Any help would be appreciated.

I was wondering if anyone knew how to bypass the thing where you can only watch a DVD if you're in park.

Is there anything anyone knows? Please help.

Thank you in advance.

A Lockpick will do it but it's a little pricey. Coastaletech makes/sells them although they seem to not answer any phone calls or emails and shipping is a little slow. The GEN3 has seemed to fix a few gremlins that were in GEN2. I just wish it would bypass the "OK" screen on the NAV.

It is easy once you get the trim ring off. That is the hardest part.
If you really don't want to attempt it, most any car audio place should be able to do it. Some may not want to due to legals issues though.

Well here is my 2 cents. On after market ones you just have to ground out the wire that ran to the parking brake. Hope this help.

Go to to your local stereo dealer ask them which wire it is, and ground it and you can put a togle switch somehwere and turn it off-on-off and the will replicate the parking brake...

Thats how I have done it on the past 2 trucks I have had.

It's not that easy on an '07.

Just make sure you put a warning sticker on the back of your AV that says "Warning, inattentive driver watching a DVD instead of the road"  so we'll know to watch out for you randomly changing lanes or not stopping at stop sights or red lights.

Thanks.   Thumbs up!

The same reason why I don't like the Nav units, I watch the damn arrow to much.
