First off nice site. Nice pics and info.

Before deciding to register and post I did several searches over the past few days with no luck.

My issue is I notice that the factory radio is a Delco radio with CD Player built into the radio. The car also comes equipped with On Star, which I have yet to use or figure out.

On the radio I notice it has a Aux button which is the same as the CD Player button. I am assuming it toggles between the two.

I basically just want to add a Aux jack if possible off that button with the CD Player to be able to use my IPOD or any other MP3 player.

I read about the PAC, but I picked up the impression you need some other external device like the 6 disk CD changer for to work.

Any insight or links to help me out would be appreciated.

2002 and OnStar no longer Mix Look here for info

You should be able to do what Alberta_Boy did to his (he has an 03 so you would need to get the plug for an 02)

Here is a pic of the back of the radio

Search PAC GM AUX-9 adapter.
(might have wrong part number but is similar as I have one)

it is a thingy that plugs into back of radio and gives you 2 female RCA jacks to plug anything into..

that will work on the AUX button...

@ItsStopher

I followed the link for the onstar info you posted but the original poster in that thread messed up his link by not attaching the full link. I did get the gist of it though that ONSTAR and 02 no longer work together.

I did some google searching and came across some other threads to this website somewhat stating the same info regards to ONSTAR and 02 not working together anymore.

I did read Albert Boy thread earlier. I will jump there and ask some questions.

I think I might try to end up changing the whole radio out if onstar is not working.

I don't use the onstar but I always thought it would be nice backup if I had an emergency.

OnStar upgraded all its systems to digital and the sunset on the analog equipment was 12-31-07.  I have the same problem with my truck and no OnStar.  I have had the service in the past and it is kinda nice to have.  Now all hope is not lost yet.  I contacted the service department of my local Chevy dealer (where I got my truck) and they can upgade the onstar unit to digital.  The price is not bad you just pay for a one year subscription and the installation is free, as is the hardware.  They told me that it would be alot more (almost 3x) if I out and out bought the hardware and installed it myself.  So for $199 + a $15 shipping fee I get my '04 Av updated to the new digital OnStar.

Hope this helps you

okay, I don't think onstar is even in my system.  when I pull the radio all wires are plugged into the yellow section, the 9-pin (red) is empty, do I just plug the gm9-aux into the red and leave the yellow alone.  not having to plug the 'radio' wires through the gm9-aux ?

Try it... and see what happens...
Or PIE may make similar one for those w/o onstar....

(PS onstar is now dead in 2002 AVY due to being Analog)
