Well I think it's about time to start a new welcome page for all the new members since we seem to be growing. I would also like to keep a list here of all the current NY members. It seems over the past few months many new members have been joining, and it would be great to have our one thread for GTG's.  This thread will be for the NY region, LI has their own welcome site... luv you guys

This thread is also a great idea. I've had so much on my plate these last couple of years, that keeping track of local members and planning GTGs has fallen to the way side. I hope this gets things stirred up again.

I've lost track of a lot of members old members, and I don't know what they're up to now. However, there are a few that I know are still active, hopefully getting some discussion going will bring some of the others out of hiding.

It's a new thread , thought we needed one 

I'm suprised that there is this many here and no Big GTG's yet.

I'm suprised that there is this many here and no Big GTG's yet.

It's not that there haven't been any, it's just that you're too new to remember the GTGs that we've had around here.

We've had a bunch of local area GTGs in the past, big and small. A couple to Erie PA when ColoradoAv was in town visting, we met in Rochester to watch the IMAX premier of Matrix Reloaded, we rode the Arcade and Attica Railroad for a fall foliage tour, we toured Letchworth State Park, we had a few meets at Duff's for chicken wings, and of course, we had the two huge GTGs at Niagara Falls. (Which drew people from as far away as Florida and Newfoundland )

The problem has been that I've had a lot of stuff going on in my life the last couple years, and I haven't had much time to devote to organizing things. MrBill, who was the heart and soul of the Niagara Falls GTGs has been pretty busy himself. Without me putting a lot of time into organizing things, the group has pretty much fallen apart.

But now, with this renewed interest, I hope we can return to some of our past glory.

Keep up the great work, you're really stirring things up! (And I mean that in a very positive way!)

As long as we've got a conversation going on with the local area members, how about brainstorming some GTG ideas? Come on, let's hear your thoughts!

I probally should have worded that better, I know of some of the GTG's , heard alot about the Niagara Falls one. Wish I was here to see that, I heard the turn out was something to be seen. 

I agree with you just getting some ideas from others would be a wonderful place to start . Once we get a few suggestions we can roll from there. Come on everyone throw your thoughts out. I know Letchworth  State park is a place I have been itching to visit., apparently they call it the Grand Canyon of the East.

Ideas anyone?

Well I have been trying to come up with some possible GTG's and this is what I have so far

SS mentioned maybe having one up near the Buffalo area , need suggestions on where...

There is the Sterling Renaissance Festival that runs July & August

Lake George was also mentioned as a possibale GTG

Also tuck this one away in the back of your heads, I am planning a Labor Day weekend wine trail tour at my home , it's a long weekend so everyone from other states are welcome and we have plenty of room in our house and 3 acres for anyone who would like to camp out as well . Royalstar has done this trip before with members and may have additional information on it . I will post more on this as the time draws closer , probally after Nationals .

Hey guys,    looks like we are getting a Quacker Steak & Lube here in Syracuse

I spotted some ambers today: A victory red Av, heading South on route 246, between routes 63 and 20A. (From Pavilion to Perry.) Spotted it around 5:20 to 5:25 - Monday evening June 2.

Who could it be?

I didn't post this in the regular "Ambers Spotted" section, since I didn't think you would go looking for it, considering I wasn't driving my Av. So I doubt you saw me. I was Northbound on that road, driving my motorhome. I tried flashing my lights at you, but was almost alongside you when I did, so you may not've noticed. But if you did notice a big (mostly) green bus flash it's lights at you, that was me.

Thanks! I am going to try and to Ambers soon on the truck so I can be more identifiable to anyone in my area. I see quite a few Avy's out here.

We are both pretty excited about the little one. My wife's shower was the past weekend in Albany so I used the Avy to load it up with all of the stuff that we got and we had it completely full!

Hurry up and get those ambers in. Not only does it look better, it's exciting when you see an Av with ambers on the road. I was passing Syracuse a few months ago, and spotted Bee on the road. It was fun. Even with her bright yellow Av, it was the ambers that I saw first.


And speaking of spotting ambers, a couple days ago on Sunday, while passing through Syracuse, I spotted a cladded victory red Av with ambers. You were on I-690, heading South, after the construction and just before the merge with I-81. It was right around 1:00 pm, and you had your window open and looked right at me as I was heading North. Of course, you probably didn't recognize me because I wasn't driving the Av, I was driving a (mostly) green big motorhome. Unfortunately, I wasn't towing the Av that weekend.

Hi and  . OMG yes too bad you didn't make it to Lake George  it was a blast but we are going to hold a Lake George GTG yearly so hopefully next year you can attend .

My Aunt lived in Latham most of her life so I know the area well, she nows lives in Cahoes.

We have a thread on the Caverns and the BBHOF stop over and join us in some post whoring.  I will put you on the list over there. We should be there at 10:00 as I believe thats what time the BBHOF opens then over to the caves around 2:00 I think that may be a tour time but I'll post more as soon as the time gets closer.


I'm not going to Lake George in August anymore but next year I'm hoping to maybe do a 3 day weekend because the 2 days seemed to short.

thanks for the advise, ill get a hang of the site soon enough. Just looking for some advise on a suspension lift. Not sure if i want to go 4" or 6". Prob 6"...But i looked into a fabtech kit and it was pretty pricey almost 3 grand and that didnt include new tires and rims that i will need. Or the labor to do so. I just ordered a super 40 flowmaster muffler so hopefully that will give me the growl im looking for. Anyadvise on the lift would be helpful. Im tryin to stay under 2 grand on the kit. Thanks everyone.

Just looking for some advise on a suspension lift.

Sorry to say I've got no personal experience there. The best I can offer is to check out this section of our forum: Offroad: Lifts, Suspension & Drivetrain. You should find plenty of advice and opinons there. And if you still have any questions, that's the place to post to get the most visability to your question.

Just be careful, the mod bug can be addicting. Once you've got the lift in, then there's the tires and wheels that you're worried about. But once you've got the bigger tires in, you realize that it changes your gearing and you lost power. So the next step is re-gearing the front and rear diffs, and maybe adding some engine performance mods. But the bigger tires also affect braking, so maybe some bigger brakes are next. Then, once you've got all that, you realize you need front and rear lockers to get the best off-road traction. And after that... well, let's just say it's a never-ending struggle. 

Yep. it's real easy to get carried away...

I went to college at RPI so I was in that area for quite a while. I graduated with my Masters in 2004 and have been out in the Binghamton area working for Lockheed Martin since. My wife's family is from the Albany area though, so we go back at least once a month.

  to the club . You are in the right area , we are the upstate NY section. We don't have any local decals at this time but it may be something we can look into, heck I have 5 other states on my Avy and no NY 

BTW i also have a yelllow avy. 

Check in from time to time as we have lots of GTG's in this area. Winter slows down some but we will be planning our annual Lake George GTG for next summer and your not to far from there.

I've just returned to NY after being on the left coast for 9 yrs where I got my baby '03 Z71  Metallic Pewter Av. 
I was a small car chick until I saw my first Av.   

My eyes glazed over and all I could think was... "It will be mine, Oh yes, that Sexah Betch will be mine!"  
Even thru the $120 for a tank of gas, I never thought about getting rid of The Beast!
Now I am sweating bullets, my baby is seeing SALT for the very first time in her 60,200 mile exhistance!  The Horror, The HORROR!!! 

In all seriousness, I can't wait to go to my first GTG, please include me on the "list" (is there a velvet rope and waiting line involved?)

If your in the Rochester Area... I have the Metallic Pewter Av & I ALWAYS have my leopard print headband hanging from my rearview... So stick your tongue out at me and I'll return the gesture!

Hi there millin 4500  to the Club. I just moved from the Oswego area to Tully, and we already have snow here 
To post pics you have to post and undetermined amount of posts but I believe it's over 50.

Keep an eye out for GTGS in our area as you can meet alot of local members and get some great ideas for new mods. We are planning a weekend modding only GTG for the Spring or maybe you would like to join us for the Yeungling GTG where you can meet folks from other states.

Hello everyone... Been in the forums here since I got my '03 Z-71 back 2 yrs ago in January... Almost bought a red one, but it wasnt cladded and I fell in love with the blue one... Been looking around, working on the mod thing... yes the bug has bitten.... lol... Anywho, would like to be added to the list.... Probably have seen Bee's AV driving around somewhere as I have seen a yellow one in Cortland a time or two, but didn't notice the ambers, so it might not of been her or with the yellow AV didn't notice them...  Just put the ambers in mine... dunno why it took me so long....  I noticed in another thread that Bee was trying to get people together to go to Greek Peak and the waterpark.  The company I work for did a lot of work for the waterpark and hotel.  Man talk about some steel....... Ok enough of the rambling...

Did the 4 on high mod, well part of it, the fogs don't come on all the time...  Still trying to think of things that I  can do that are in the budget... Maybe the sail panel LED's will be next... but waiting for warmer weather for that one... Will keep an eye out for you as well....

Ah, you probally saw Bonesaw and Tartan Terror, they had my truck down there one day, and no they didn't go to the salon, well not that I know of  if the AV had a sport wing then it was mine.
I also did the non-budget bustering mods. Sail panels are nice, my friends from MI did mine. A line of fire is another good mod that's reasonable and very kewl.
You will have to joon us at a GTG sometime. I'm sure you will see us this Summer because I will be towing the camper through Cortland to go to the State parks.

Did you know they used to sell the wild turkey in a ceramic turkey.  Rreally cool.  Hey sorry about the nightmares.  Just drink some turkey and you will be good.
