Its time for the Arizona Avalanches to run support for this worthy cause again.

Saturday May 10, 2008

All proceeds will benefit the

“Huntington’s Disease Society of America – Arizona Affiliate”

You are invited to join us for a day ride to beautiful Roosevelt Lake.  Riders will depart from the SRP PERA Club located at 1 E. Continental Drive in Tempe and proceed north up the Beeline Highway, through Punkin Center to Roosevelt Lake.  Roosevelt PERA will provide lunch by the lake. The band, Second Shift, will be preforming at  Buddy Stubbs Harley Davidson where the ride will end.

Registration starts at 9:00 a.m. First riders leave PERA Tempe at 10:00. I would like for all the Avalanches involved to be at PERA at 9:00 to pick up signs and have time to beat the bikes to the card stops. If anyone is unable to show up that early, let me know and I will get the signs and stuff to you before the 10th.

I will post a link to the online registration when it is available.

New limk for sponsoring a rider on this great run. Even if you can't go on the ride, you can make a contribution to the cause.
Sponsorship link; http://www.firstgiving.com/power2curehd

Online registration; http://www.firstgiving.com/hdsa-az

The avalanches staffing the Buddy Stubbs stops will have some free time between the beginning of the run and the time they have to man their stations.

Stop 1 = PERA Tempe 9:00 Everybody
Stop 2 = Rest Area 87/188  10:30-11:00 Todd (amd1900mp) Nigel (AZ 03 Av)
Stop 3 = PERA Roosevelt 11:30 Huh?? (Your name here) anyone.....anyone.....Bueller?
Stop 4 = Ft. McDowell Casino 1:30-3:30 Dan (azavman)
Stop 5 = Buddy Stubbs Cindy 2:30 - (Starchaser)
Sag Wagon = Glen (gargoyleman)

We would like to have at least 5 trucks for support roles again this year.(More is better). We are hoping to see 200-300 riders this year. It would be cool to have a couple of Av's at each stop.

If you know anyone that would like to volunteer for helping out at any of the card stops please invite them along.

Azavman - thanks for posting about this.  I had never heard of Huntingtons disease before so I did a little research and it sound like a very difficult thing to deal with.  Glad you all are supporting the fund raiser!!  Have fun  Wave

MoAv,

We always have fun supporting this worthy cause. The Arizona Avalanche truck club always steps up to help and I am proud to be a member of this organization.
We can always use another truck for support if you are up for a road trip. Although, May is a great month in Missouri usually so I will understand if you don't make this one.

Be happy to hang out with a table and coolers again - although if the weather is like last year we may want a few gallons of hot coffee!

Thanks once again for supporting this cause. My Grandfather and Mom both suffered from Huntington's for many years. It is so hard to watch ones you love suffer like that. The hardest part is to know that it is a genetic disease and chances are someone else in my family will suffer from it eventually. When I mention Huntington's must people have never even heard of it. It warms my heart to know that this club knows and cares what it is.  love

Thanks agian... just wish I could be there to join you all.

Me too.

Ghost - do you have that backrest on order yet?

Well, we went and ordered the backrest last weekend. They called during the week and said it was on backorder and they could not provide an eta yet.  banghead  Hopefully they can get it shipped to us within 3 months to have it for this ride.

Backrest - $250. Sportrack needed for backrest - $400. Riding in this event for a great cause - priceless.  love

Still no word on our backrest we ordered.  banghead  They have 46 more days to deliver it to us by this event.

We tried a helmet to helmet communication set. It is ok for city streets but not very good for highway driving. Too much wind noise at high speeds.
