Had my tonneau covers stolen Monday, 3/31, at Honeywell parking lot on 19th Ave.  Thanks to the person who posted the link to the Jimmy Jammer.  Ordered one, however, still awaiting approval from my insurance company for replacement of covers and lock mechanism.  Sad

JPL, did security have a film of them stealing your covers?  I would ask.

I'm going to have to make a mod to lock the covers on.   I never take them off, so its not a pain to leave them locked for a few years.

I wish I had seen this freaking post before. I just feel victum of prey to these guys as well. They got me last night and my covers have been stolen as well.
Yes they got me, I work hard for my money and try to have a few nice things and some body robs me.

So If I get new ones and secure the latches with the bed rails, do I just do the last tail gate or do I do this mod to all the tail gate latches?

You put the bed rail on the last cargo cover to go on, lets face it, if they want them bad enough, they are gonna get em but with the bed rail, its just gonna take em longer, much longer and maybe which is my hope, they'll just say forget it!  When you get ready to do it if you need any further help with this mod, don't hesitate to PM.

sorry to hear you lost the covers. I hope they catch this vermin soon. Seems as if he/she has a pretty good business going on down there. Think that will be my next addition because I go to AZ often.

Keng - was it you that sent me email on this topic?  Tried to reply but get errors.   Anyway, for my particular theft I purchased/installed a JimmyJammer.    I sleep better having it even though its likely not 100% burglar proof.    My insurance company covered the tonneau cover.  However the tools and archery gear I had in the back I had to replace on my own dime.  I would recommend getting this device at a minimum and also considering some of the things others have posted in this thread.     Extending the alarm to the tailgate is something I'd like to do.

I came across this website upon googling "stolen tunneau covers for avalanche" and boy am I glad that I did.  I had my Tunneau Covers stolen two nights ago.  and not only did they take the covers, but they also took both sideview mirrors (i'm guessing it's b/c they are the one's w/the turn signals on them and more expensive)!!!  Based upon the feedback I've seen in this forum (and thank you all by the way), I am definitely getting a Jimmy Jammer once I get the covers re-installed.  I just wish I could have walked in on these scumbgag thieves during the process!  there would def be a couple of less people on the earth, thats for sure.

Does anyone know how much it would cost to extend the alarm to the tailgate of the truck?
