I looking for some information that I really can't find on the web... But does Atlanta or the surrounding area have a planetarium that is open to the public without being on a field trip with a school?  I'm looking for something interesting to take my 7 yr old nephew to.  I think he would really enjoy going to a planetarium and to watch a movie on space on the domed screen...

Please chime in if you know of anything...

Is Sci-Trek a field trip only kind of thing?  Some of the local colleges may offer shows at their planetarium(s) for a small fee, seems like Young Harris college in Young Harris, GA does.

the Museum of Science & History here in Jacksonville has one and does shows on fri/sat night...usually to music...i.e. pink floyd, etc... but is open daily too..,

also, if you have never been, the laser show at Stone Mountain (GA) is out of this world thumbs_up

I believe there's a planetarium at Fernbank Science Center over by Emory University.  It's got a natural history museum, imax, and planetarium.  There is a fee for entry, but don't know how much.  Haven't been there in years, but it was quite nice!

Oh brother - I just had a Dur moment, I was thinking "themosh" was in reference to the mosh pit...  Big laughter with tears  Anyway, I might have to find a cardboard box to live in for a week in Aug so I can see the Metallica & Zeppelin show one weekend and Pink Floyd show the next...

hmm, maybe I might have to offer my other nephew a ride to Jax to visit his mom in return for a room...

The Tellus Museum in Cartersville is great and has a nice planetarium.  Place is new, just opened this year.  The Planetarium is all digital.  Cartersville is a short drivr from Atlanta.  Took my niece, nephew, and son there back in the spring.  Crowds were not to bad during prime school trip hours.
