If anyone would like a GM Certificate to assist them in buying a New General Motors product, feel free to Post, Pm, or Email your request. I with fellow employees of the GM Divisions will be happy to give a certificate to any future customer of GM. The certificates are worth a Supplier Discount which is about 1% below Invoice. Rebates or other Special Offers are USUALLY good with the certificates [Can't be used with the GMS or Employee Pricing] . Dickering with the Dealer will sometimes get you a better deal then the hassle free certificate deal. Dealers are not required to accept the certificates, but I haven't heard of any who don't take them. The employees of GM are allotted 2 per month until Sept 06. Add the cost savings of the certificate with future GM promotions and your cost continues a downward spiral. I can usually handle about 40 per month and with the other members of this great club, that number will grow and we should have a Walmart type supply of certificates for anyone. Future Avalanche Owners are the targeted demographic, but a request for any other GM vehicle will not be ignored. Just send your birthdate ,  last 4 digits of your SSN and email address so we can send your certificate to you. I don't believe the Certificates are any good in Canada due to the requirement of the last 4 digits of the person's SSN. Canada has another discount program going on called the GM Believer Program.

 
    A point described by IronTrain concerning posting of vital personnal data, please Pm or Email all vital stats to the Gm employees listed below who have certificates for the giving.  The Gm in the Driveway expires Sept 2006. The Certificates will be good for 6 months after they are issued. This date is stated on the certificate.

NOTE FROM GM ON THE DRIVEWAY PROGRAM

A employee will use the online process to obtain a GM in the Driveway authorization number.  The employee will need the prospect's date of birth and last 4 digits of their Social Security number to obtain their GM in the Driveway authorization number online. The certificate can then be email directly to the prospective customer. The dealer only needs the certificate number to verify who it is for and then they will commence the deal. Each eligible GM employee can request two GM in the Driveway authorization numbers per month through Sept 2006.

A note about a certificate price lookup...............

Give the GM employee the VIN of a vehicle you are looking at plus the Dealer name, Vehicle Description and Dealer Zip Code and they can provide you the GMID or Supplier Price of that vehicle.
We all are more than happy to look up prices for folks. However, we have to search  GM Buy Power to do it. The easiest thing for us would be if you found the vehicle you were looking for and then posted a link to that page. If you can’t do that , then we need the following information so we can search for it.

1.   Make and Model
2.   Dealer name and zip code
3.   4x4 or 2wd
4.   Trim level & Color
5.   VIN (last 6 numbers is fine)

I know what you mean but that is why we are so good. We go that extra mile to ensure everyone has their request answered even when they don't post in this section. All we can do is point them here at this thread.
People will start new threads concerning the GMID program and the club members on this site will take care of
them somehow. It is a free flowing info highway for sure with a little guidance and sometimes it gets a little murky
but we handle it with some humor and just good old plain customer service. Thats why this is one of the the best sites, everyone has ideas and they are willing to share them and help out.

Can you tell the approx build date by the VIN? Or if there has been any problems with it?

No date code in the VIN other than the model year. There would be no problems associated with a VIN in an unsold vehicle. Are you sure the Av your looking at is new? If it was used, that would explain why I can't find it in dealer inventory.

GM has just doubled the monthly allotment of authorizations for May and June. So instead of being out for the month, I now have two more.

I just checked my e-mail for the last time tonight and got one from GM saying that the allotment was doubled. Went and checked and sure enough, I had 2 left.

Don't know if you guys saw my post in the zone forum but thank you very much for your help.  The certificate saved me about $1300 on the deal I was making.  ($900 on the car and $425 on the dealer fee).
Now I have an extra $1300 to spend on the truck ;D

Question:

Regarding the GM In The Driveway Certificate,
can my company Fed ID  (FEIN) be used in
place of my last 4 SSN?

Accountant states that all info on the lease
should pertain to my company's not my personal info in order to cover the the truck as
a business deductible expense in full.

Not in market untill present lease ends on
my current vehicle in December 05.

Possibly might wait till spring for new 07 Av but
dealers will be eager to move 06 & 05 metal and with 3000 in GM Card bucks can get a loaded Av for a song.

The certificate requires the last 4 digits of your SSN. However the dealer wants to work the deal is up to them.

GM asks for the last four of SS number. The FEIN wouldn't work. (I don't think). It's just a four digit number, it doesn't pertain to anything. The dealer may ask you to prove the last four.


The program is set to expire in Jan. 2006. It's just a guess if it will be extended.

For all members and newbies:
Gms is the GM program that allows for GM EMPLOYEES to receive about a 5% below invoice on the selected vehicle. The Employees receive this discount on most GM makes. This discount is applied only to the immediate family. Any deviation from this process by the employee can result in some action being taken against the employee by General Motors, including suspension of privileges of using the discount programs, paying back monies and termination of employment.

The Supplier program allows for employees of the General's suppliers to receive a 1% below invoice on select GM vehicles. The employee requests this authorization from their employer. GM employees cannot authorize any purchasers under this program.

The Gm in the Driveway allows for a GM employee to give a prospective customer who doesn't fall underneath the umbrella of the above 2 programs a certificate worth 1% below invoice and a chance for a hassle free deal. The employee may not accept any type of monetary value in lieu of this authorization number. Not following the rules of this program may result in the same action taken against the employee as in the GMS program.

GM reserves the right to inspect or audit any Employee or Dealer records to determine if any deviation from the rules governing these discount programs has resulted in a misuse of the programs.
We the Employees of General Motors who are members of this club and have given these authorizations out to all who have asked can be assured that the guidelines of these programs are followed wholeheartly.
We want to maintain these privileges so that we may continue to offer these discounts to those who wish them.

Please read the first post of this thread and the qualifiers on the GMID# if you recieve one. cz3cqg, AVid, myself and others like to assist people in getting the best deal they can within the RULES. We are trying to help people and at the same time help our employer which isn't completely altruistic because it helps us too. However we don't want to get fired (unlikely) or lose our priveledges.  :B:

We can't get the supplier price on the SAABs and we can't give you a inventory port wise. The 9-2x Aero is about 26900 with a invoice of 25600 with rebates of 4500 I believe. On the Saabs you will probably get a better deal without the certificate. That seems to be the general feeling amongest the other customers purchasing the Saab vehicles.

The Saab GMID cost is a strange one to us. I don't know what DRC stands for but you can check at www.edmunds.com site, on their Saab Forum for advice on the cost and rebate amounts being offered.

 Hi to everyone on the board. I've been looking and looking and looking to buy an Av for quite awhile now. I think I might finally be able to pull it off. Credit problems. Here my situation. Went looking yesterday at 02 2500 2wd. 34,000 miles  for $20995. I'm trading in a 99 rodeo with $12,000 left on loan and dealer will only give me $8500 for it.  They said if I had $2500 down they could get me in it, but then said they could get me in 05 silverado ext that was $27000 with no money down. I know its easier to get into a new vehicle. So my question is what would we these two cost me with gm certificate? Maybe I'll get lucky and go new instead of used. Right now I'd even settle for a 2wd I know they are a little cheaper. Thanks

To GM Employees who are current members:

GM has started a new incentive program for the employees. Earn 100 credit dollars toward a purchase or lease of a GM product up to a maximum of 1000 dollars by referring someone who will buy or lease a GM vehicle while owning or replacing a Non-Gm vehicle that is less than 20 years old. Also if they are a first time GM purchaser, the referral will count. But you will need to collect information like First and Last Name, Address, Email, Phone Number and make of Non Gm vehicle.

The program is called Ambassador 2. This information can be collected at the Gmfamilyfirst site.

I saved 12000 off sticker, just because I knew the salesman personally and it was the 2nd vehicle that I bought from him.  I wish that I knew of this GMID cert.  I still saved more without it, but when I go to buy another vehicle, Iwill inquire about them

Swoop. sounds like you got a real good deal, which just proves that deals can get better without the certificate under the right conditions.

I have the requests for flykid and gto_thunder and will process them tomorrow.

All other requests to me anyhow, after Thursday 2:30pm will be processed starting June 1st since GM goes on Memorial Holiday that day. I will not have my fellow employees to draw upon to fill out the requests until we get back.

Do you need GMS or GMID? I could also use more info, 2 Wheel Drive or 4X4, trim level (Z66,Z71 etc.) I did a quick search, ran out of time. Didn't find either one. It's difficult to locate vehicles with just color and VIN. We can't search by VIN, have to find it on Gm Buy Power (http://www.gmbuypower.com)

They didn't increase mine for May. Since joining the club March '04 I've given away all but 1 or 2 of my alloted GMID#s here starting with the old paper certificates I had on hand sent snail-mail. I'll check again after a while but it just said I was at zero for May.

 Note: Gm may be providing the Employee Discount [GMS] to everybody, but the sidenote may be that the rebates will be reduced somewhat to compensate for the greater discount amount.  So if you have a deal now, it may be as good or better than what will be applied in June.

General Motors Corp., hoping to clear dealer lots of growing numbers of unsold models, is trying yet another tactic to drum up sales.


GM will announce Wednesday that it will offer all buyers the same discount that employees get, giving consumers nationwide thousands of dollars off the price of every 2005 car or truck except the Chevrolet Corvette, a person familiar with the plan said Friday. The employee discount varies by model.


The new program, to be unveiled publicly the same day that GM is expected to report another weak month of U.S. auto sales, could help trim high inventories of cars and trucks. That particularly means full-size pickups and sport utility vehicles, sales of which have suffered due to record high gasoline prices, dealers said.

Weakening sales for GM's aging truck lineup, including its most profitable models, were a major reason why GM posted a $1.1 billion loss in the first quarter, its worst result since 1992.

Dealers contacted by the Free Press said they would welcome the program.

"If that's what they're doing, I think that's great," Lynn Thompson, co-owner of Thompson Pontiac-GMC-Cadillac-Saab in Springfield, Mo., told the Free Press in a telephone interview. "I'm not selling as many as I need to," he said about GM's large SUVs.

A GM official declined to comment.

With gasoline prices hovering at around $2 a gallon and GM's truck lineup several years older than competitors' models, many of GM's most profitable vehicles sit unsold at dealerships. Dealers have enough supply of the Cadillac Escalade SUV, once one of its hottest models, to last 139 days at the current selling rate, according to Ward's Automotive Reports. GM's preferred rate would be about a 70 to 80 day supply.

The days' supply is even higher for some other models, such as the Pontiac Montana SV6 minivan, the Chevrolet Avalanche pickup truck and the GMC Yukon XL SUV.

"GM still has to clear excess inventories, particularly of their trucks. The new incentives suggest that sales were soft in May," said David Healy, an automotive analyst with Burnham Securities, which manages mutual funds and large individual investors.

One reason GM may be anxious to move out the older trucks is to make room for a new generation of large pickups and SUVs, code-named GMT-900, expected to hit dealerships early next year.

GM executives have said in recent months that they hope to back away from offering large incentives on their vehicles, which analysts said has weakened the strength of some GM brands and hurt the trade-in value of GM vehicles.

Over the last two months, GM's Hot Button Event promotion gave consumers the chance to win one of 1,000 GM cars and trucks when they visited a dealership. For the many consumers who didn't win a vehicle, GM also offered a $1,000 cash bonus applied to the purchase or lease of a new 2004 or 2005 model year GM car or truck. "It's driven a lot of traffic in, but I haven't sold a lot of cars off it," Thompson said.

With the new program, GM appears to be returning to the tried and true model of keeping incentive programs simple and compelling, the same formula that helped spark sales shortly after the Sept. 11 attacks.

"I think maybe some buyers have been turned off by fairly complicated incentives, where there are five or six options," Healy said. "Maybe it's a K.I.S.S. program ... Keep It Simple Stupid."


Last November, with interest rates on the rise, GM unveiled its Lock 'n Roll promotion, offering consumers the chance to lock in a low financing rate on both a new vehicle and a second GM vehicle in a few years. But dealers said the offer was too complicated, and GM officials acknowledged it failed to meet expectations.

GM's U.S. sales are expected to drop about 5.7 percent in May, according to Ward's. Through the first four months of the year, GM's sales dropped nearly 5 percent.

Even as sales have dropped, GM has favored cutting inventories by temporarily shutting its plants in tandem with its incentive spending, according to a report issued this week by John Casesa, who studies the auto industry for investors at the brokerage Merrill Lynch.

"Market-share losses, however, continue to undermine GM's efforts to get its house in order, and year-over-year declines in production will likely be the norm through the end of this year, until GMT-900 production begins to ramp up," Casesa said.

I am very confused. What was the MSRP on the sticker? I am looking at a truck that has a MSRP of around 38,500 and the GMS price is 32,000. Is it possiable to get that much off? it almost double what the GMS price would give you. Confused???

PaulP, It isn't impossible to save that much but on the other hand it is not that common. With the discounts ranging from 5000 to 7000 dollars and the rebates going from 2500 to 3500 dollars on then throw in the Hot Button Bonus Cash of 1000 and to to top it off add in 1500 for models that have been sitting on the lot for more than 120 days and magic seems to happen. Sprinkle in some desperation and economics and some friendly dealing salesmen and the prices can appear drop into the bucket. Right spot at the Right time can be a benefit.
Normal amount off the MSRP has been running 8000 to 11000 dollars with 9000 being the average.

Onstar will be standard on all vehicles in the 2007 model year. It wasn't standard on my 05 model in October and the 06  year might be. Look at the production date on the inside of the driver door and fiqure 4 weeks travel time to get a idea how long it has been sitting or look at the invoice.

I've had a high % GMIDs redeemed over the past 6 months than last year, sometimes a dealer will beat the GMID price and that's cool, always get the best bargain you can. 

It's just watching the boards and adding up the results. The 107 is what yourself, Avid, Sgt and our plant have given out.

They are good for 6 months after they are issued. Get one in Dec 05 and it won't expire until June 06

The GMID# discount is usually valid for 6 months from the date of issue, the present program was extended to Jan. 3, 2006. You might ask in late December and get a number valid for 3 to 6 months. The program is always subject to change so it's hard to predict, best I can say is check back in 6 months. (sometimes the last month of the year it's only valid 90 days)

    GM Employee Pricing for everyone plus the rebates and the GMID certificate is not really needed for purchasing. GMS is 5% below invoice while the GMID pricing is 1% below invoice.

A quick search shows that a 2wd 1500 Avalanche has no choice on axle ratio, you get a 3:42.

Try going to Gm Buy Power (http://www.gmbuypower.com) and use the "build this vehicle" option.  Build it the way you want it and then you can do a search of local dealer inventorys.

I can give you a GMID# if you PM me last 4 of SS#, birthdate 00/00/0000 and e-mail addy you want it sent to. It's easier that way. On early '06 models the info is sketchy online but a GMID# can't hurt when you are trying to strike a bargain.

As a rule of thumb, the GMID authorization is 1% below invoice. It does vary from model to model, the price is listed on the invoice as "GMID" or "Supplr".

Because of the current promotion, we all have all of our authorizations for this month left. Please let us know if you want one. Heck, it won't hurt to have one any way. PM me your DOB and last four of your SS number and your e-mail address and I'll send one.

As I thought, my local dealer won't honor the GMID certificate on the Hummer H3; however, they will honor the GMID on other vehicles.  Is that normal (or even allowed)?  Can they honor the discount for some cars but not on others?  I know the employee discount doesn't apply because the H3 is an '06 model but there is no such restriction on the GMID discount.  Does this mean I'm dealing with a shady dealership?

My neighbor used the GMID  discount on his H3  in Shreveport, Louisiana at Orr Hummer. I think he told me the guys name was O.J.

Dealer participation in the GMID program is voluntary. The Hummer H3 is brand new, hot, and selling at or above sticker. Dealers stand to make quite a bit on it. Why would he sell it at a big discount when the next guy in the door will pay more. At the present time, there aren't tons of H3's out there.

You're absolutely right.  I was just hoping that my dealer would honor the certificate because I have heard about several dealers that are honoring them on the H3.  I don't blame them for trying to make money -  that's what they're in business for.

Interested in a certificate if anyone has one left. I am looking to purchase a vehicle again, however will not be able to until a couple weeks after the current promotion "employee price for everyone" ends unfortunately.

Ditto here.  I want to thank Flint4x4 for the certificate he gave me.  I was able to save over $3300 on my new H3@!!!  I don't have it yet but I should have it by next week (Black on Ebony/Morocco).  I had to buy it from a dealer in Ohio (I'm in NJ) to get the discount, but it was well worth it to save that kind of money.  Awesome forum!!!

The certificate pricing is 4% above the employee pricing, therefore the employee pricing is the best way to go. Nothing for sure, but the general thoughts are that the employee pricing program for everyone might be extended into August.

Employee price for everyone is 2005 only for now. We'll learn about 2006 prices and rebates as they come out which is usally the first of each month. Keep in mind dealers don't have to accept a certificate, try another dealer that has more of a hot selling model in stock.

Hello.  I have questions and would greatly appreciate someone's input/advice.

1. I want to buy an '06 GM vehicle and would like to use GMID, but I don't really have the money right now.  I am rebuilding cash reserves after buying a house last year.  I should have the $ in February.  However, the GMID program expires at the beginning of January.  Do you think that the program is likely to be extended, or is it likely to expire, in which case I might choose to overextend myself and by via GMID later this year?

2.  Some cars (such as GTO, Vette, and some Cadilacs) are periodically pulled out of the GMID program.  If I order a car with a GMID certificate but by the time I take delivery it is pulled out of the program, or if, for example, I order a car in November but can't get delivery until January 14 (when the GMID program has expired ), can the dealer tell me to pay MSRP?

You will have to take delivery before the program ends. Flipping a coin will tell if it will be extended or not. I'll bet the decision to extend or expire hasn't been made yet.

Let me start by saying THANK YOU to AVid.  I used the cert. just before the employee pricing thing started.  Didn't really bother me that I jumped too soon... still got a great deal on a new (2nd) AV.  Now, to my next question.  Now that I have used a certificate already this year, can I used another to buy the wife a new ride.  Like others have posted there are certain cars (GTO,etc) that are not included in the employee pricing, plus no 2006's (as of now).  If I'm allowed to use another certificate... can I have another one..... PLEASE?   :)

You can use 1 certificate per purchase. You can buy as many GM vehicles as you want and you can use 1 certificate per purchase.

Since the GTO is not approved as of now for GMS (employee), or GSU (supplier), does anyone know for sure (or can find out) if the GTO is approved now for the GID (driveway) program?

edit: I would check with your dealer, participation is voluntary, they don't have to accept the cert.

The GMID# is the same as supplier discount so employees & family or suppliers aren't eligible. (They already get a discount) As AVid stated dealer participation is voluntary but most will honor it. Rebates & prices are always subject to change.

 Exclusions like the GTO are normal, if GM offered the discount on it no dealer in his right mind would accept it. Not when they can sell the car for over MSRP.

I guess this will work on the CTS also by looking at through the post. I have been reviewing dealerships inventories and what they show as employee pricing.
On a 36000 CTS it shows about 32500 whereas when you punch in the numbers on a 35000 AV the employee pricing drops down in the upper 26 range. Bummer, I would love to have another AV, but have a company truck that is mine to use as I wish with gas paid and the wife wants a car instead so I am stuck looking at the CTS or the BMW 330.
I have the GM card and have points saved up there will they work with the certificate?
Would like to stay with GM, but the guys here in Lafayette, LA are not to anxious to take anything off on the CTS's in this region. It is their hot seller down here.

If you are buying a 05 model, you don't need a GMID certificate because the 05 models are selling with the Employee Discount for Everyone. If you are buying a 06 then I can get you a certificate on Sept 1st or you can contact AVID or FLINT4X4 here and they might have some left

GM to Extend Employee Discount, Add Select 2006 Models

DETROIT – General Motors Corp. will extend its employee-pricing discount plan on select 2005 models until Sept. 30, a spokeswoman said Thursday.

The world's biggest automaker also plans to apply the discount to select 2006 full-size trucks and sport utility vehicles, said spokeswoman Brenda Rios. The program lets customers buy vehicles at the employee rate.

GM was the first of the Big Three to offer employee prices for all consumers in June. GM's sales shot up 41 percent that month. Ford Motor Co. and DaimlerChrysler AG's Chrysler Group followed with their own employee-pricing plans in July.

GM and Ford had extended discount plans in August, and Chrysler had extended the deal indefinitely. GM's incentives had been scheduled to run through Sept. 6; Ford's also are set to expire that day.

Messages seeking comment were left Thursday with Ford and Chrysler.

The programs have helped the automakers achieve near-record sales. The industry reported a seasonally adjusted annual sales rate of 20.8 million units for July, the highest since a record

21.8 million rate in October 2001, according to research firm Autodata Corp.

I bought my 2004 using a GM certificate provided from one of these fine folks. This is all above board.

I'll take this opportunity to once again thank all the folks providing these certificates to CAFCNA members. You guys ROCK!  :1:

In August we did 135 GMID certificates for Av and H3 members. The info is destroyed as soon as it is entered into the GM system. I don't believe we have had any complaints. I'd be more worried about the dealer taking your FULL SSN and Driver License Number for a credit app etc.

I can't say thanks enough. I got my certificate the next day from you guys and bought my H3 this weekend! I had to use the savings to pay the damn CA sales tax. No one at the dealer knew what I was talking about except the sales manager. When I told him the big competitor 35 miles away was going to accept the GMID (I think - lol) they said they would accept it! Almost $3500 off the MSRP. Another couple bought theirs a few minutes before me and asked how much I saved (they saved $450) - I did not have the heart to tell them and said they got a great deal. I owe you guys big!!! Thanks a thousand times over!

First, check with your dealer and make sure he will accept a GMID authorization. That will entitle you to the supplier discount. You then subract any incentives from the supplier price and thats what you pay.

If you need a GMID authorization, PM me the last four of your social security number, your date of birth, and a valid e-mail address. I'll get you one and have GM send the number directly to you.

Since employee discount for everyone is over and it's a new month I think it's about time to have a moderator clear this thread. Maybe update post #1 first with clear instructions of what info makes it easiest for us to look up a supplier price on a specific vehicle. PM one of us month/day/year last 4 SS# e-mail addy, maybe shorten up first post so there is less to read so we don't keep getting asked the same questions.

The most you can expect with the certificate is 4000 to 5000 off the MSRP. So if the rebates add up to 6000, then 10000 to 11000 off MSRP is what you should expect for a final sale price without taxes.

Hi. Tell them to go to www.gmfamilyfirst.com and look there. I know their FAQ has a bunch of questions about the program. Not sure if it's up to date, but it says the program now expires 1/3/06. Hope this helps.

I am in LA. temporarily and the price of an Avalanche in Clifornia is hard to resist(compared with upstate NY),with the dealers adding an extra $3,000-$5,000 off plus the red tag price and factory rebates.  Is the certificate good with these offers also?

They might be pricing the Avs below the GMID price list. For us to to know, pick your Av and send VIN, Dealer Name and Zip Code [Description of Vehicle ie Z71, color[ and we can get the GMID pricing for you to compare

The certs are good for 6 months. I understand that the program has been extended, however, GM's site still says it expires the first of the year.

I don't believe they'll end GMintheDriveway program anytime soon, they're trying to set MSRP at "true value" and eliminate rebates & confusing multiple choice pricing programs.

Yea that's what I have read too. They are going to lower the MSRP's even more and try to not need rebates. I hope that GMS,  Supplier and GID are not done away with.

They won't eliminate GMS/employee discount or discounts for suppliers but the % off could change if they get rid of rebates. They want to end the "nobody pays MSRP" mentality. For instance the MSRP on my truck was almost $45,000.00 but nobody in thier right mind paid that much.

The GID program is always subject to change but with both dealers and employees as club members you can always ask here for the most recent information.  :B:

Thanks for the update, maybe some of our DEALER members can fill us in on the details of the new program after they are told about it on Tuesday.
