Title: Number of members to register since inception
Post by: ygmn on February 4, 2005, 08:03:25 AM
Well sometime last night...we had the 20,000 person register for CAFCNA...

yes 20,000......(check member's profile member number for this)

I guess you wonder why only 10,600 ish members in list?

Well, we delete members who have not been active in the last 365 days....everyday.....

Also some new sign ups never follow up with activation letter so these are deleted as well after a period of time...

So in about 3 years and 2 weeks and 3 days ISH....we have had over 20,000 people find CAFCNA and create a forum membership account....or about 18 per day over this time frame....

Thank you members....for continuing to make this a great place to discuss our Avalanche's and things related to it.....

But, does that mean 20,000 UNIQUE people or just 20,000 accounts with some people having multiple accounts?

20,000 accounts......with different member names and email addresses....

Peeps should not need more then 1 account....

You are 19996.  If you put your cursor over your name it'll have it in the description.

But you know it happens where somebody forgot their password or something and resigned up.  Right? Or am I totally off base here?

I think 20K members total and 10K "active" is great.  :) However, I just did a search by member status and found there are only 24 2005 supporting members. Realizing that it is still early in the year, this number is pretty pathetic.  :(

:0: Maybe we should come up with some incentives to become a supporting member. This could include merchandise, discounts from site partners etc. I think serious consideration should be formatting the site so that only part is available to non-supporting members and the bulk requiring a supporting membership.

Promo's for the pages available to supporting members could easily be placed on the general public pages and from time to time, "free days" to the supporting member sites could be offered to all.

I would like to see this club generate some revenue that could then be shared with the local chapters for GTG's and other promotions. ;D

I'm afraid if you made part of this site a pay to see site, we would lose members, not get members to pay.  Just my .02

if you forget password their is a button that will email you a password for your account...so this should not be happening....

I am sure members have duplicate accounts...and we have seen them....We frown against it as it serves no purpose other then to deceive other members....

Maybe soon we will look into this more...and delete these extra accounts members have....

The whole point of this...is we have had 20,000 different email addresses sign up for the forum...and that is a large amount in 3 years.......

plus our total posts is huge as well for 3 years....

amazing what the Chevy Avalanche has meant to all these peeps.....as this is what CAFCNA is about...Our passion for the Avalanche....

We removed the SM sections...as it is not what the club is about...having special hidden sections only certain members can access

We are all equals...and share all our information with everyone who is a member...

in fact there are not that many sections unavailable to guests who do not log in...check it out next time before you log in....

Being a SM is about giving back to CAFCNA and all members who have contributed information you have found useful.....some feel since they have learned so much the least they can do is become a SM to help all these members continue to provide all this great information....

SO enjoy!

I agree with that, just throwing out some ideas to generate discussion.

No actually your right.  In three years only 14 people have found this site, they have created more than 20,000 accounts over three years and wrote over 600,000 posts in long discussions with themselves?

I mean what is the point?  Do people have duplicate accounts?

Yup - largely trouble makers.  The handful of folks that I have seen create an second account because of some huge problem with the first account have actively asked for the second account to be deleted.  Historically we've had some trouble makers that have made it a blood sport creating duplicate accounts.

How many duplicates in the 20,000 plus?  I don't know, but I'd be shocked if it was more than 2%...

Chill out Chief, I was just asking a question, because I'm pretty sure as you said the "trouble makers" have made multiple accounts.  Don't bite the head that posts, sheesh man.

I never filled out an activation letter...or at least I don't think I have. I love the boards and I don't want to be deleted. Is there something I need to do to stay active?

Interesting, I was browsing through the member list and counted 6253 of the 13159 members (to date) that had never posted even once!

If I did my math correctly, that's 47.5%!!

At least say hello! :E:

OK, now to do some more constructive things with my time.. :4:

Lately I have been too busy to post. I do check in every week to see if I have a message. Guess I just spend too much time fishing!

you are 32539...

put mouse over your member name in the post... and down inlower left hand corner of IE it shows your member number at end of URL

or you can see it by clicking profile.. and it will be the number at the end of the URL...

Full member is based on post count... and well tis a secret for various spammer reasons...

You can become a Supporting member and then all PM priviledges work...

see this thread for more info..
