A toy cruise and Christmas tree GTG for NY/NJ/DE/Philly area AVers.

We'll be meeting in the parking lot of the Boater's World near the Franklin Mills mall between 11:30 and noon on December 14 (see direction below) for the cruise into Philly.  The toys will be donated to the PSSC Holiday Toy Shop 2003.
Afterward we will head out to Exsley's tree farm in in Sewell, NJ to pick out and cut down our Christmas Trees for the coming holiday.  You do not have to get a christmas tree;   you're welcome to just come out for a BS session.

You do not have to donate yourself.  Feel free to hit up employers, co-workers, neighbors, family, friends, etc.  I bet we could even get some gifts from some local Chevy dealers.

So how about it?

"The List" . . . so far:

Bonedog (+2)
Bonesaw (+2)
Bikerchic (+5)
escheat
.

Directions:
From I-95 (in PA), take exit 35.
Keep right through the construction area.
Take the "ramp" to the right towards the Franklin Mills mall.
Go straight through the first light.
Take a left at the next light into the Boater's World parking lot.
Look for the AV(s) in the parking lot to the right.

i'd be up for this.. don't know about hitting up my job for anything (they're cheap veryangry ) but i think i can do pretty well where my family's concerned..

i'm also trying to get a tree chopping gtg going in december.. what about combining the two? first stop would be meeting up then cruising over to dropping off the toys, then we could find a semi-local tree farm for some ax weilding good times and on to someplace to eat and defrost... (lol.. i feel funny saying that, knowing we're going to have temps in the 70's today)

a quick check of the site u linked to listed the drive date as the 17th which would make a whole day event out of the question.. maybe we could contact the organizers and get a pre-drive drop off on the 14th? if not, maybe we could hook up with toys for tots and plan a pickup with them?

if we get enough people interested, we maybe could garner some news coverage like we did in savannah at STI? and dropping our donations off before the actual drive would help advertise the toy drive as well as the av..

anyone else up for this?

I can do some checking down here. As far as the date, the 14th is not good for me, but don't base it on me. If all else fails whatever I get I could drop off on the 17th. I work the even days in Dec. Let me know.

The Annual Jeeps for Joy toy run is the 14th - maybe that could work?

scroll down to the bottom of the page

WXTU will probably also be having their Toy Truck Parade again this year. If anyony is interested I can try to get the details before they're announced.

SO....

we are donating to the PSSC Holiday Toy Shop 2003 got it!

i've found a few christmas tree places that sound like fun or should we do the trees another day? anyway.. here's what i found..

25 min/20 miles south of philly: Exley's Country Lane Nursery (1535 Taynard Road, Sewell, NJ 08353 (609) 468 5949 Refreshments available. Special Features: Santa on weekends for the kids and kids at heart.)

or

45 min/27 miles east of philly: Indian Acres Tree Farm (Tuckerton Road Medford, NJ 08055(609) 953 0087 Special Features: Hayride)

if we want to stay in nj or if we're doing the day in pa there's

55min/41miles north west of philly: "Windridge cut your own tree Farm" (1049 Bartlett Lane, Chester Springs, PA  19425; 610-469-9299 Choose & Harvest: Frazer Fir, Douglas Fir, Canaan Fir, Concolor Fir, Eastern White Pine, Southwestern White Pine, Colorado Blue Spruce, Engleman Spruce, White Spruce Features: Wreath and Gift Shop, Free tree wrapping and drilling, hot chocolate, coffee and cookies, Free weekend hay rides, and visits from Santa Claus or Mrs. Claus, saws provided, live trees, and one of a kind, giant Santa Claus, free candy from one of our elves. Enjoy a beautiful day in scenic Chester County!

since i'll probably have some kids with me, i'm voting for the last one Grin hayrides, santa and free candy! wohoo! lol

i'll try to contact these farms over the next few days for prices, parking area, etc.. anything else i should be asking them?

That would be bikerchic's hijack of my post.

The plan so far:

Meet on Sunday dec 7 or 14 with all of the toy donations that we have gathered (time and location not yet determined).

Cruise to philly for the drop off (I'm setting it up, just waiting to here back from the coordinator)

Off to pick out Christmas trees

I'm also hoping for more people than this to come out for it.  I'd hate to have to start naming names.

ok.. i've shortened my hijack a bit..  Embarrassed so the 7th it is.. i'm all for lighting a fire under some members to get them signed up for this gtg..

btw.. u don't have to get a tree to join us on the farm.. feel free to spend the time laughing at the rest of us trying to cut ours down with frozen hands.. i'm sure it'll be an interesting site.. hehe

Ok, it seems like some people can go for the 7th others on the 14th.

I'm flexible as well as the coordinator at PSSC.  So . . . which day would be best for everyone the 7 or 14 or either.  I need everyone to please post which date(s) and how many will be coming.  Whichever one has the most people attending will be the date.

Bonesaw+1 7&14

BTW:  Does anyone know why this has never shown up in the "new" posts section?

No, toys do not have to be a personal donation.  You can hit up whomever you like as a source, the more the merrier.  I plan on at least going after some co-workers, neighbors, and probably a couple of the Chevy dealers around here (although it may be better if a couple of us go in at a time instead of someone having to go solo)

As far as the confusion: my apologies, I'm trying to straighten it out.

Hmmm this sounds intriguing.

Once a firm plan is set , I'll see if I can join y'all.  I just need to know when I have to take off from the store.

With regard to the trees, I have a fake one so I cant use a real one.  Medford sounds nice along with Sewell (Washington Twp. Gloucester County)

Wifey would be working though so it's most likely me for now.

What did Tubby do wrong? I can't figure it out, I just got back from Day one of the CPA Exam, so I'm a tad fried.

Cheers!

We're still trying to pick a date.  Which would be better for you.  The 7th or 14th?

Can do either 7Th or 14Th I'll check back to see what is decided.

Thanks!

Oh yeah, I survived the rest of the CPA Exam.  I'll see if my guesses ( on multiple guess) and essays were mostly right and coherent, respectively, enough in January.
