Hopefully this list or the link to the acronym finder has the acronym or abbreviation that you are looking for.  If you think that something else that is Avalanche or modification specific that needs to be added to the list, PM myself or one of the moderators/administrators and we will add it to the list.

Here is another CAFCNA thread here that also discusses acronyms and abbreviations

Maybe I'm a little old fashioned....but I love these boards, and it seems to me that the people that are participating in them are a notch above your average people? DO Avi owners really need to abbreviate or use the "F" word in their discussions? Juat my opinion, but I'd like to see those abbreviations and references to bad profanity disappear...but again, maybe I'm too oldfashioned??  ???

Thanks 02 Z71!!!  Over time, I have pretty much figured out the more commonly used abbreviations. However, there were a few on your list, ROTFLMAOPIMP, that I now am aware of. I had no idea what the PIMP stood for. That is definitely one I will be using from now on. Thanks. :B:

Since you have BFE and FUBAR, you might as well add BOHICA ( Bend Over Here It Comes Again ), BRB ( Be Right Back ), AFK ( Away From Keyboard ), SSDD ( Same S**T Different Day ), OMW ( On My Way ),  and lastly, RTFM ( Read The Fine/F***ing Manual ).

I don't know if these are in the other thread mentioned, as that thread seems to be off limits to me at the moment :).

Same goes for the "D" word.

Profanity, yes, but they're just the other brands..

>:D          J/K  <- Note: NOT in the above list!

As a member of a younger generation, but not the youngest ( I'm 29 ).
Profanity is pretty much a day to day thing.  I don't think it holds generally the same meaning as it used to.  Generally refrain from it, but in the majority of cases it's just another adjective or used in place of longer adjectives.

I try to be respectfull of the old people hanging around here ( j/k  >:D ).

Though I try to refrain anymore as a bunch of people I work with are Mormon, and it becomes hard to use some phrases without having to explain what they mean.

I could not agree with you more. I understand that they have gotten very common in our society, but that does not excuse the fact that they are still very negative words.

Can I ask a question?
Do you get offended when you see an underwear commercial on the television too?

J/K  ;D

I would rather see the abr. of the "f" word rather than the entire "f" word. I do understand it does bother some, I am not one of those that it does...  :cautious:

So are colloquialisms. What has become of "gotten". >:D

BTW, This geezer isn't really a prude..  :6: It's just necessary to keep profanity off a family friendly board.

Generally I agree, that this is a family board.  I don't recall ever really using the negative words on this board, or in general any board. Maybe a few acronyms like WTF, but IMHO they are just words to me, and society would be better off knowing they are just words.  Though, context does count.

Most of the words are really better used in verbal expression :)

Though IANAL, so sue me ;)

IANAL ( I Am Not A Lawyer ).

LOF is also used on here as Lube, Oil and Filter. Which has caused me to stop and think a couple times just what the thread I was reading was supposed to about. :-[

Underwear commercials don't offend me, but truthfully all the blood and gore on TV these days does. I have a 6 y/o boy that at the end of a long day, we sometimes sit down to watch a little TV together. It takes me a long time to find something worth watching...In fact, we usually end up watching the animal planet. It's safe and intersting, all at the same time.

I gave up; rarely even watch TV; If so, it's a DVD movie.. If that counts..

It's not worth my time to watch repeating ad's with only occasional programming anyway.

Cartoon Network with Scooby Doo is good ;)
Dora the Explorer on Nogin
What ever network BOOM is has alot of old cartoons I used to watch as a kid.

Though, even the new "kids shows" are about retarded and lacking in any depth and pretty much at the intellectual level of Scary Movie 1, 2, and 3.

My daughter is 2 and half and we don't watch much TV, but she loves Scooby Doo and Dora.  Sometimes Higglytown Heros and JoJo's Circus, but that's about all she can watch, though she likes some of the shows about airplanes and naval ships on the History Channel and Military Channels.

Animal Planet,Don't they show like giant Nile crocodiles eating unsuspecting Zebras, and Lions ripping apart Water buffalo. No GORE there. ;)

Guess it all comes down to upbringing, perspective ,and openness  ;D

P.S. You might not want to listen to Limp Bizkit chocolate starfish and hotdog flavored water.

But you are right, I find it hard to find a program my 5 year old can watch without explaining its only a movie.
Should have seen the look on his face when in Jurassic park the T-Rex ate the guy on the pot.I don't ever want to see my Son look like that again.

P.P.S. I have two Quote's for you

"Freedom of speech just watch what you say"  Ice-T
"If you don't like what you see on TV just turn it off" Jimmy Dean the sausage guy/singer

Just my two cents

Added a couple more of "appropriate" acronyms

A co-worker gave me the movie Pulp Fiction to watch.  She absolutely loved the movie, as do many other people.  I couldn't get through more than 15 minutes before the profanity and violence totally turned me off.  And I am not easily offended.

I went to an AA (alcoholics anonymous) meeting once and they kept mentioning HP. I couldn't figure out what computers had to do with getting sober, I'd recently purchased an HP

HP - Horse Power, Hewett Packard or Higher Power
