Long story short.... I replaced my power steering pump and more problems arise!!!!

2002 Avalanche Z66.
While I had the gear box off and everything disconnected, steering wise, from the steering wheel. The steering wheel was turned around and around. KIDS Ugh! Lol. Any way, what do I do now?

It started with just replacing the power steering pump, then the steering gear box needed new seals. That in return made me have to replace the pitman arm, then so on and so on with the old steering. While the steering was disconnected from the steering wheel the steering wheel was spun. Now I have no idea how to line it back up. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

While I have never been in this situation, I have researched replacing the intermediate steering shaft and bearing and in those instructions you are advised to secure the steering wheel while it is disconnected from the shaft to prevent it from turning.

Even going so far as to pull the driver's seat as far forward as possible and securing the seat belt through the steering wheel to prevent movement.

You are warned about damage to the clock spring if the steering wheel is allowed to be rotated beyond it's normal lock-to-lock position.

I guess we are going to find out if all of those warnings are valid.

Best of luck to you with your repair.
