First off hello and great site!
I decided to panit the FADED cladding on my wifes '02 2500 Av black using Krylon Fusion "satin" black. I used it on my Hummer H2 plastic and it worked GREAT(no issues in two years). Anyway heres some pics, let me know what you think. Figured for $30 and a couple of hours what could it hurt! Gonig to peplace the factory running boards with some SS step bars next week.

Did u do any kind of prep work?
Thanks!
I wiped it down with denatured alcohol before I sprayed it and scuffed the "smooth" areas with red scotchbrite. Thats how I did it on my H2 and its still there after 2 years.

That look really clean for spray paint!!! I can't tell by the pics though how good it is. Is there any waving in the paint? Did you put a gloss coat?

Thanks! It lays down great with no "lines" almost like a spray on dye does. I did not put a clear coat over it, wanted to be sure I liked it first. If i do then I will use epoxy based satin clear. They offer a gloss black in the Fusion also but thought that may be too shiny. The satin is ALMOST to shiny for my taste but not bad.

Did you do the bed panels also? I am very interested in doing something to my AV.  I'm tired of cleaners and such, that only last a few weeks.

Thanks guys and yes I did the panels also.
I actually used VERY thin cardboard pushed between the body and cladding(no tape lines at all) then taped the small areas. I did remove the storage lids on the back and the panels and sprayed separately. Start to finish was a little under 4 hours with three coats. The Fusion dries VERY fast and seems to be pretty durable, also covers VERY well. I honestly dont know how long it will last on the edges of the running boards(long term) but I am replacing them with ss step bars anyway, so far so good though.

looks great (y) did you ever have any problems with pealing
Thanks! No peeling at all so far on my H2 in two years. Now granted it does not see ANY off road use but it does get washed pretty regular! (y)
Hopefully the Av will hold up as well!

Nice look to your ride (y)

I wonder how well the denatured alcohol would clean off tire-black or Armour All etc. before painting. Did you have any chemicals like that on your plastic before cleaning/painting?

I had some sling up off of the tires that I cleaned off with Purple Power (I'm sure any industrial type cleaner would work as well) before I wiped it down with the Denatured alcohol. I did not have any type off protectant actually applied to the plastic though.
