I've been reading DougD's thread on the Durastop pad/rotor mods for the Avalanches.  Does anybody know how is this upgrade/mod/maintenance compares performance-wise to the EBC yellowstuff pads and slotted/dimpled rotors?  I put EBC redstuff pads on my wife's car and have been VERY happy with how it has performed.

Anybody done an EBC upgrade?  I'm seeing them advertised on Powerblock and I have firsthand experience with some of it, but the Durastop mods are a good bit cheaper.

I have been thinking of EBC.... same set up but maybe with Greestuff pads...
or greenstuff pads only...

Will remove wheels this weekend or so and inspect all the stock pads and rotors...
92K miles on OEM stuff... kinda happy...
but realize will need to replace soon

Did my internet pricing search...

seems for GD rotors... (slotted & Dimpled) & greenstuff 7000 series up front and 6000 series pads in rear... whole thing shipped to house = $544.00

PS... Yellow pads are for racing or extreme driving... and Really expensive... Best I could find was $121 fronts & $89 rear

PSS
Local O'reilly's sells EBC... have to order most likely... but easy returns if you get wrong rears

Well finally purchased.

USR rotors Slotted only.
Greenstuff Pads

all 4 corners... $420 delivered to my house.

Use BLOGTEN as coupon code for 10% off...

I went with USR rotors; slotted only, since I do not think the added cost for the GD slotted & dimpled is worth it...($about $100 added) remember I am cheapskate..

I feel this EBC package will be better then stock and not much more then replacing with Local auto part store base parts...

Ps I am at around 96K.
Brake fluid is below half way.
Will report pad life left later

Replaced front today and rears tomorrow.
Some pics of parts before install...

Used greenstuff SUV pads and USR slotted rotors w/ black finish....

Rear pics....

Easy install... Did nothing to my park brakes as I never use them... passenger side was missing one friction material on front side....
Lots of dust and worn... which I cannot understand since I never use them...

Those are colorful, let us know how you like them.

I am in midst of break in cycle which at my rate of driving could take a month..

200-400 miles driving like aunti Em..
ten another 200 driving like her sister

ygmn,
I'm in need of brakes there is so much to look at.
I have been looking at EBC. Have you had enough road time to break them in
and how have they performed for you?
Do you do much pulling or hauling loads of any weight?
As I do and I'm wondering if the Yellowstuff SUV/LT pads are the way to go.
But if I can save some money and the Greensuff will perform that would be great.
Are your calibers stock painted or after market. I may be in need of rear calibers.
Love the post and Great pics!

I have broken them in finally and driven a few trips to airport in traffic....

They feel beter in panic stop when someone in front of you stops short that is fer sure....
But I am comparing to my old pads which were worn heavy...

I used to tow but not so much anymore...

I feel the upgrade was worth it all around..
I was going to go Yellow but they are really for racing and well...
the greens are designed for SUV...and half as much.

I painted my stock calipers which were fine after a little TLC cleanup and lubrication...

I say go with Green all around and slotted rotors only...
I do not feel the GD rotors with dimples will help any more due to lack of swept area...

Good Luck

Thank you this will help me choose.

Well I will be ordering Tuesday from Knecht?s. Ever one around my area here needs to make contacts to get me prices, their manger Mike was the best to work with and called me shortly after I left his store. Even though I have to make an 80 mile round trip :E:, he gave me a quote and said come in and he will get as close as he can to the Summit prices I showed him.
Will post when I receive them.
USR rotors Slotted,
Greenstuffs 7000 front pads.
Yellowstufffs SUV/LT rear pads
These are not their race pads and cheaper than Greenstuffs rear
Need all the help for all the towing I do.
Thanks ygmn.
JV

Good luck and take some pics and post pics in this thread

What type of paint did you use on your calipers? High heat or is there
a caliper paint.

Forget.... old age or too many beers

High heat or I think they now sell caliper paint at auto part stores

Thanks.
Still have not order, all the Auto Parts have to special order and get
a price what a PIA :E:. I thought I had it covered but when I went in he still
had not figured it out wasted trip in :6:.
Has any one used AutoAnything same price as Summit with no shipping and in stock?
I do not like to use the internet with out reviews.

:woohoo: My EBC rotors and pads came yesterday.
EBC was back order do to substandard material for the
rotors, ordered June 5.
Some Wait :E: so I will be installing the backs first
that's whats needed most at this time.
I will keep an update from install, break-in , to real world
performance.
JV

Dayum... that took long time...

Good luck and great stopping!

Was it worth the wait?
I have the mark on my shoulder from the wife's panic stop
when I was a sleep in the passenger seat.

There has been a lot of coverage on the steps so some fun.
I hope this turns out this is my first youtube and link.

Just a little update on the EBC brake/rotor up grade with just over 5k,
after the brake in period.
Pedal pursuer; 200% improvement.  (y)
SOTP stopping distance;
Dust; a lot less than before, less time spent on cleaning the wheels.  (y)
Even the yellows are less, on EBC web they stated it would be more.
So how do rate EBC  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D (y) (y) (y) (y) (y)
YGMN thanks for the info that led me to EBC  (y)
The only thing I would do diverant next time, Dimpled rotors for cooling.
