I whispered softly into the intake filter.  I told it I was going to give it a new brain and it would feel soooo much better.  Then we giggled and bathed in oil.  It was kinda sexy...all greased up in full synthetic...dripping off the dipstick and all over my hands.

I like the one that eats dryer sheets. Her breath must be spring-fresh.

So today I washed my Av for the first time. Hand washing reveals the imperfections that you don't notice when you give it the once-over at the dealer. Nothing major, just some touch-ups here and there. I used Black Magic on the inner fenders and it came out nice. I also used it on the running boards to make it more challenging for the kids to climb in. Oh what fun we had at the bus stop.

I used 303 protectant on the plastic up top. It doesn't leave a greasy residue and doesn't run off on the paint like the Black Magic does.

Got real license plates today and ditched the paper tags. My GM "all weather" mats came in so I popped those in as well.

Tomorrow I'm going to see how close the Silverado short-bed mat fits (the UPS guy brought that today, too). It's going to need trimmed, but it was 1/3 the cost of a 'real' Avalanche bed mat.

Today I...

1. Topped up the oil (again again again again)
2. Swapped out my flakey white turn signals for amber ones  ::)
3. Vacuumed driver's seat floor area because it was turning into a sand pit
4. Put leather conditioner on seats
5. Washed the interior - doors, dash, consoles, cupholders :9:, windows
6. Thanked her for the good times and reliable rides.

Just remember who all your friends are here at CAFCNA when you make it big!  $50M could go a long way to adding about 10,000 Superchargers to all of us here!

 Hey TurboJimmy; I saw your post today about carving up a Silverado bed liner to fit the Avy. I saw an original 05 Avy liner for $100 in Oshawa (Toronto) shipping for this would probably suck, since they are very heavy. But maybe a road trip to the Great White North? Just something to consider.
The Avy liners are the same for all years so it will fit perfectly!

Thanks! I've come across mats described as '02-06 on eBay but I've passed thinking they won't fit. Going back to 2002 opens up a whole new world of possibilities. Ontario is a bit of a haul, but if I hold out long enough I bet I can get one locally.

In the meantime, the Silverado short-bed mat sort of fits. I had to trim it where the wheel housings would have been, but it's all good. It's certainly better than nothing (which is what I had before)!

I also replaced the bowtie on the front with a new OEM one. Mine was separating from its backing and looked bad. Little stuff like that bugs me.

If you saved the old Bowtie you could completely separate it from the chrome surround and paint it with Krylon Fusioon (plastic paint) and Color Match it to your Avy!!

I did save it, and I just ordered some touch-up paint. I'll have to try that. Thanks!

Not at all. Was changing exhaust and two bolts broke off in the driver side head. The front and the rear. The rear came right out with the easy out. The front is another story. Don't ever go to Sears and buy Craftsman easy outs. They suck. Got it in place and using a 1/4" ratchet it snapped almost immediately. We're talking not even a 1/4 turn.

holy moly  :E:  My dad had a set that worked fairly well with some small things, tho we never had to use em in an engine block LOL
That being said, i hate crapsman tools too.. worth the money for good quality stuff from the local MAC/Snap-On/etc. tool truck anyway.
funny story, when i worked as a mechanic in HS we used the craftsman sockets and tools to take out our frustrations by breaking them on purpose.. mostly with the biggest impact available.. handy lifetime warranty was worth dozens of free sockets hehehehe

Most of my buddy's high quality stuff was pretty well shot so I picked up a few from the nearby Sears Hardware. :P
